Weekly Contest 54 || The Diary Game || A BEAUTIFUL DAY THAT ALMOST ENDED IN PAIN || 23/02/2026

Greetings to all my friends here, it's week 54 for a diary game contest put together by @m-fdo, and I am delighted to participate which I will also call on my friends to join.

I started the day happily but the latter part brought pain and serious discomfort while I was going for a programme. Details below as I break down how I spent my day in three (3) phases - morning, afternoon, and evening or night.

MORNING

Rising from the bed at 5:04 am after my alarm cried so loudly, I had morning devotion with my family that lasted for 21 minutes.

As the year is still young, many churches are still running 21 days of fasting, so I was invited to Eket for a prayer summit that has been going on for about a week now. I was informed that the event will commence at 5 pm.

My Son and I having Haircuts

Around 8 am, I needed to have my haircut, so I called the person who used to come and take care of our hair. As part of preparing, I had my haircut to look nice. About 9 am I was done with barbing my hair and got involved with other domestic chores.

Fetching Water

I continued to study the scriptures, prayed, and rested for spiritual delivery at the event later in the evening. While I was sleeping, the Water Board Company distributed water in our area. Water cans were emptied, meaning that we were expecting the water supply. My wife interrupted my sleep, for the water and I happily changed my clothes and started fetching the water into the house, filling to the brim every possible container, from 11 am to about 12:15 am.

AFTERNOON

I was still fetching water as the force of its flow was low, and as I wrapped up, I had to rest again until 2 pm. A friend had promised to take me to Eket. I did not know the actual location, therefore I was glad he offered to help. I left the house at 3 pm and waited for him under the Flyover connecting Atiku Abubakar, and Idoro Roads in Uyo.

Under the Flyover waiting for my friend

Even though I spent over 45 minutes for him to come, it wasn't painful compared to the free ride and the distance he would cover to lessen my stress to an unfamiliar place as such. Finally, the car arrived, he was engaged and I totally didn't hold it against him.

EVENING

About 4 pm, we left and he took me to a reasonable perimeter which means I will get to the venue of the event and his stopover was Etinan Local Government's Area famous junction where you have motorists and motorcyclists. I waited for the motor there for over 15 minutes and I couldn't find any going in my direction. A motorcyclist came to me and convinced me to take a motorcycle and I knew my time was ticking very close to the time of the event. It was already 5:09 pm while I was expecting it to be 6:30 pm.

I had no choice but to follow the bike man who charged two five hundred (2,500) naira to take me to Afaha Eket. Along the road, he stopped by another bus stop and transferred me to another motorcyclist, they had their agreement, but I think he cheated on the one who finally took me to my destination from my calculations of the distance covered.

Arriving the Venue with my eye in pain

WHEN THE BEAUTIFUL DAY ALMOST ENDED IN PAIN

While the bike was going at a high speed, a piece of stone flew into my left eye and I was in discomfort in every sense trying to pretend that all was well. I was constantly scrubbing my eye, trying to remove the chalky substance from my eye, not knowing it was swelling. We got to the church around 6:08 pm, and I couldn't see clearly with my left eye, constantly feeling something inside my eye.

The Eyedrops I bought at N500
It was very disturbing. I went to a nearby shop and bought two sachets of water, borrowed a bucket from the sales girl, poured in the water, and dipped my eye into the water, yet there was no difference. A lady who was there advised me to buy eyedrops from a pharmacy across the road, and I did immediately. This cost me five hundred (500) naira only. Put some drops on it and I felt a bit better, even though I was still not seeing clearly.

I bought sacks

At 6:30 pm, the program did not commence. I had to step outside again to get some snacks since I left Uyo in the afternoon. I helped myself with the snacks to hold brief on myself until the commencement of the event at 7 pm.

I was officially welcomed and introduced as the guest speaker for the night. My left eye was dripping water which I managed the situation with a face towel, ensuring it was not noticed until someone was very close or directly looking into my eyes. My advantage was on the big screens I was surrounded by, projecting programs and activities.

I saw God's miraculous hand when it was time. For me to minister, the eye cleared, I was able to see, read from both the screens and my bible. The status quo remained ante bellum until I finished my ministries by 9:20 pm. I found a direct motor going to Uyo that night and I joined, stepping into my house at 11:23 pm.

I returned all glory to God Almighty, who healed me and helped me to have a sound delivery of God's blessings that night, and souls were blessed.

Dear friends, God is real and still working miracles. Trust him for everything. He will surely do it.

I appreciate the organizer of this contest once again @m-fdo even as I believe my testimony here will inspire someone as I invite @mayjay @nsisong2022 @okere-blessing to participate in this amazing contest.
