Forms of marriage.

Marriages are a custom or tradition that a group of people follow to be officially called into a relationship. These marriages can have different forms that varies according to the couple's religion, ethnicity or their locality. So we will discuss these different types of marriages in detail.

Customary or traditional marriage

Every group of people have their traditions and customs that they get from their origin, these customs are used with the religious practices to make their acts more socially accepted and completes their meaning. For example in Pakistan and India marriages have a custom of applying Henna(Mehendi) on the bride's hands, it is said that the bride who gets a brighter color of henna on their hands is a lucky one. While a bride that don't get quite a nice color will be a misfortunate person.

Religious marriages

Religious marriages are a sort of marriage where the partnership is accepted by the norms and traditions sat by a religion. Say Muslims require that the marriage should be heterogeneous, women should not be married to another man at the time of marrying, there should be 2 sane persons present while the vows are taken, both man and women should verbally accept the other person as their spouse and the women is to stay with the man at his house after marriage. These religious rules and regulations define the process of marriage that is accepted in their religion and make them socially normal and accepted.

Court marriages

Court marriages are the marriages that are done at the official level, they get a wedding certificate from the locality that makes them a couple. This type of marriage is considered legal in all the religions and customs.

My parents' marriage

I talked to my parents and they told me about the type of marriage they had when they became partners. They had a religious marriage with some traditions of the Indian marriages involved and the type of marriage was Monogamy with a touch of endogamy. So its cool to know that couples do not accept one type or form of marriage and they merge practices of others as well.

Types of marriage

Endogamy

In this form of marriage people only marries inside of their class/ethnicity/locality these people believe in the purity of their blood and marrying outside their own class/ethnicity or locality means impurity to them.

Exogamy

This type of marriage is between two distinct and separate class/ethnicity/locality they believe in the merging of different tribes and make their marriage a source of social acceptance of other groups.

Monogamy

In this type of marriage the couple could only have only one partner at one time. They can't have multiple spouses.

Polygamy

This marriage includes multiple partners this could be a man having multiple wives or a women having multiple husbands.

Sologamy

In this marriage the person marries themselves, this type of marriage is getting common in western world where people want to get satisfaction in their lives and they argue that it leads them to a happy life.

Reasons of marriage

Every person have their own motivation for doing or not doing anything. According to me marriages could have following possible reasons: - Getting a partner and cure loneliness - Getting sexual and physical satisfaction - Having someone to support your when in need - To have a legal status in someone's life - To conform to the norms of their country.
