COULD QSV BE DISQUALIFIED FROM DEANS CUP?😑🤲

The Deans Cup in my faculty is always serious business. It’s the faculty league where all 8 departments in Environmental Science have to face themselves to decide who carries the cup. We’re talking Urban and Regional Planning, Estate Management, Geography, Architecture, Building, Surveying and Geoinformatics, Fine and Applied Arts, and my own department Quantity Surveying. Every year it’s pressure, bragging rights, and department pride on the line. No friendliness once the whistle blows.

The rule that makes everything tight is about “machineries”. That’s what we call players that are not from your department. Basically outsiders or guys you borrow just to make your squad strong. The rule is clear: if your department doesn’t have a complete squad, you don’t have the right to rent machineries. The whole point is to make it fair so nobody just buys players and wins the tournament easily. Everybody knows this, and every department tries to manage with whoever they have.

So our last group match was QS against Fine and Applied Arts. We drew 2:2 and that result was enough to take us to the semi final. But after the game wahala started. Faculty DOS said we used machineries even though we didn’t have a complete squad. According to them our qualification doesn’t count again, and they gave Fine and Applied Arts a 3:0 victory over us. That means we’re disqualified. Meanwhile our own departmental DOS said we truly didn’t have enough players, so we had no choice. Now it’s been back and forth. Quantity Surveying ballers have been facing the heat because of it ⛹️‍♀️

Right now the whole department is vexed. We fought to get that draw and qualify, only for it to be cancelled on paper. Some people are saying it’s politics, some are saying the rules should have been checked before the match. Either way, it has caused serious tension in the faculty. The semi finals are close but we don’t even know if we’ll be part of it. For QS ballers, it’s frustrating because we played with what we had, and now it feels like all the effort was for nothing.
THANKS FOR VISITING
