After the 6.9 magnitude earthquake last month, Cebu is currently experiencing typhoon Tino which is signal #4.

Few years ago, we also experience super typhoon that caused big damage in Cebu. That was caused trauma to all Cebuanos because we experienced no electricity for few days, no water, no internet connection worst only few establishments opened. Big trees fell down as well big lamp post.

Unfortunately, the trauma that was slowly vanished as time passed came back because of the typhoon we were experiencing.

The said typhoon is a tropical cyclone bringing a strong wind and heavy rain. A day before the typhoon hit the place, the government personnels already send message and went to their place and announce especially those citizens leaving beside the seashore and those people having houses that uses light materials should evacuate ASAP. In our barangay, there were 4 evacuation centers. Three pubic schools and our public gym.

Though typhoon Tino is not that powerful compare to other super typhoons, Tino made us feel frightened especially when we start to hear the singing of the wind. Some parts of Cebu already experiencing flood, landslide and damages in their houses.

Before the typhoon, government heads quickly responded by suspending classes and made the schools as evacuation centers. This is to ensure community safety.

Because of the past experience, Cebuanos are more vigilant and prepared the necessary things to prepare. There is a long quie in gasoline station and others were bringing big containers to reserve in the future use, long quie also in grocery stores to buy some ready to eat food in case that the storm will last long. Some people were tying their roof, putting some barriers in their windows and the like. In short, the people were more prepared because of the past experience.

The experience of the signal #4 typhoone as of the moment reminded the Filipinos that even if it is just a mild storm, we had to be more cautious and ready. Every typhoon, big or small, teaches everyone a valuable lesson on resilience, unity, and preparedness.

Bangon Pilipinas. In God, we can canquer it.

The experience of Typhoon Tino reminded Filipinos that even moderate storms deserve caution and readiness. Every typhoon, big or small, teaches valuable lessons on resilience, unity, and preparedness — qualities that help communities recover and stand strong after every storm. 🌧️🇵🇭
