Theseus vs the Minotaur
Source
Many, many years ago, King Minos of Crete had locked in the dongine a terrible monster who was a man with the head of a bull and his name was Minotaur.
At the same time, Minos had imposed a hideous tribute on the city of Athens, in revenge for the fact that his son had died there. Every nine years they had to send seven boys and seven girls to offer them as food to the fearsome monster.
Athens, complying with the tax of the macabre King, had already sent two groups of young people to feed the Minotaur. This would be the third time that they would send young people to fulfill the King's designs. One of the seven young men was named Theseus.
Before entering the labyrinth he met Ariadna, a daughter of Minos who fell in love with him and decided to help him.
The problem was not only to defeat the Minotaur, but to be able to find the way out of such intricate corridors.
The beautiful and cunning young woman, without anyone noticing, gave Theseus a ball of thread and a magic sword. When he reached the labyrinth, Theseus took the ball of yarn, tied the end of the thread to the wall, and unrolled it as he advanced through the corridors. After walking for a long time, he entered a large room and found himself in front of the fearsome Minotaur, who roared with fury and launched himself against the young man. The Minotaur was so hideous that Theseus nearly collapsed, but he managed to defeat him with the magic sword. Then it was enough for him to follow Ariadna's thread in the opposite direction, winding the ball of yarn, and soon he was able to pass through the exit door. Theseus saved the whole group in this way and escaped taking Ariadne with him
