Wednesday – I spy with my little eye – Mini contest (67)

It is Wednesday yet again! For some, it is day three of the week, and for others, it is day four. For us on Steemit it is time to see who could “spy” correctly this week and who did not..

Let’s take a last look at last week’s clues.

The correct word is "BRIQUETTES."

Briquettes, according to Wikipedia are “compressed blocks of coal dust or other combustible biomass material (e.g. charcoal, sawdust, wood chips, peat, or paper) used for fuel and kindling to start a fire. The term derives from the French word brique, meaning brick.

The reason for choosing this word is to know what the difference is between briquettes and charcoal and if there is a difference at all. For me, both are used to make a fire, but for my husband, briquettes are a MUST to use, and charcoal must not come near his braai (South Africa barbeque). That is, if he runs out of wood.

What I've discovered:

• Briquettes and charcoal are easier to obtain than wood
• Briquettes and charcoal burn in different ways.
• Charcoal can be quickly ignited, but the temperature lasts less.
• Charcoal is particularly suitable for a direct barbecue.
• Briquettes take a longer time to burn through and the temperature lasts longer.
• Briquettes are mainly used for indirect grilling and smoking.
• You can mix the two if you want the best of two worlds when next you have that “braai”

The game “I spy with my little eye” is sort of a detective game. The “spy” is the person who sees something, and the rest of the players must then guess what the spy is seeing.

Of importance, it must be something that you can see and not something you can feel, like an emotion.

BUT, “I spy with my little eye” is so much more than just a spy game;

• It is a thinking game
• It teaches you how to use your logic and reasoning and
• It grows your vocabulary
