Greetings everyone and happy weekend , this is my entry post to @steemkidss contest about education, you can read more about the contest here, without further ado I will like to go straight to the point.

What is Education?

I will like to give the definition of education before I proceed, as when the meaning of a thing Is not known it's easy to misuse it or be ignorant of it. So my definition of education is simply teaching and receiving knowledge. Learning new skills and teaching new skills, learning from the environment, what matters is learning new things that are impacting the lives of the learner and it's shaping them to be a better person, with education the person should never remain the same. So education can be define as a learning process that makes the person learning better than they used to be. There are various type of education, as people learn differently. The way we learn have been categories into two which are formal and informal education just like the name implies, one is formal while the other is not. Let me briefly explain what formal and informal education is all about before I continue with the subject matter.

Formal Education: The society have a define standard and because of the need to teach the kids how to read and write, so they can communicate freely and also learn to do some calculations and others. Curriculums have been worked on over the years to teach and impact knowledge in a formal institution or can be called school where learning takes place.

Informal Education: is the opposite of formal education, this type of education can be refer to as self learning as you learn majorly by observation and by things you see around you. I love this type of education a lot as formal education have been abused over time.

Why Education Is Important to A Child?

Education is very important to a child, as this helps the child reasoning and also help to build the child confidence. The formal education helps a child to know how to read and write, do calculations and also helps with critical thinking. Over the years statistics have shown that people who have a little bit of formal education do well in business than those that don't have any form of education at all. Education is a civic right of any kid and denying any kid any form of education is injustice. In some countries it's illegal to not send a child to school. Education both formal and informal helps to mould a child to be a better person in the society, though the society focus more on the formal education but the need for informal education is as important as formal education, children spend a lot of time with parents and caregivers, there is need for them to impact positive education to the kids.

There is no specific learning age for any kid as babies are ready to learn as soon as they are born, so kids should be taught as soon as they show interest in learning be it formal or informal education.

What is done in your locality to embrace modern education and their challenges?

A lot have been done by the government to ensure there is education for all but in my county Nigeria we still have a lot of high numbers of kids especially the girls not in school because of parents mentally and insecurities.

The government have made public school free education for all because of the poverty level in the country and still yet we have parents that can't afford to buy school uniform or writing materials for their kids, we can see some of the kids going to school bare footed. The government also bought some test books for the kids but there has always been an issue of accountability as the books are not accounted for and their is no culture on ground to encourage it to continue. We also have cases where government built mordern E-library but most of this libraries are not used and have become a ghost house.

One major challenge of education in my country is insecurities, as we have terrorist go kidnap students in school and this has brought fear in the hearts of the parents which makes them withdraw their kids from school. There is need for the government to tackle insecurities and also to put laws on ground that makes all kids go to school in their country.
