The football match was cancelled
On the 16th of January after lectures for that day, my male coursemates and I planned to play a football match with our senior colleagues in 200 level. We all knew it wasn't going to be an easy match because our seniors will try their best to ensure they win or draw the match in other to avoid embarrassment.
We got a new jersey for ourselves because we felt we really need our own jersey instead of keeping on renting jerseys. The jersey is fine and I like it. They are 15 in number and we didn't write our names on it because is not anybody's personal jersey, sometimes we can switch positions and a player is expected to wear a number of jersey that matches his position in a particular match.
We went to the field with our female coursemates who were interested in watching the match and to also cheer us up. It was almost time for the match but we weren't seeing any sign of our opponents. We wore the jersey hoping they will come soon then I requested one of my coursemates who wasn't planning to play the match, to take a picture of I and one of my coursemates who was sitting by my side while we were waiting for our opponents to arrive. The pictures are nice and I was glad the idea came to my mind to tell him to snap us because I will love to save these pictures for memory sake.
Our assistant course rep who also prepared to play the match with us, gathered us together and informed us that the match has been cancelled, after he had a phone conversation with one of our senior colleagues. The informed him that the test they thought will be postponed was later holding that afternoon.
We were so disappointed after getting the information. I wasn't happy at all, I was in the mood to play a football match that day. That feeling immediately disappeared after I received the information. I decided to remove the jersey and return it to our assistant course rep who was I charge of it, despite the fact that he stated that we can play within ourselves in a smaller field. I prepared for a match and not something else.
It was almost 5pm so I felt is time for me to go back home because my home is very far from school and I don't like arriving home when is dark. I left the school premises and boarded a bus home, took my bath immediately I arrived home and I ate and did other things. I had a long day and I was glad it ended well even though we didn't play the match.
