It is really an amazing topic brought up by @steemkidss. Family is key and should be carried in high esteem, no matter what happens, family is Family.

Most dictionaries and scholars will define a family as only those related to us by blood. They have even gone as far as classifying family into two, which are;

• nuclear family: made up of father, mother and children

• Extended family: made of the nuclear family in addition to the grand parents.

Family is a very broad topic to deliberate on as it has so many branches and meaning to different people based on how each person is treated in the family or by their family members. For me family is more than just being related by blood. Even the good book clearly states that there exist a true friend who shows love at all times and is a brother who is born for times of distress (prov 17:17)

A true friend who is not related by blood can actually be called family. There exist friends who are even worth more than family. I see family as those related to us by blood and those who have done tangible things for us and are worthy to be called family.

No two families can be the same,Never! Some families are loving, while some others do not care for each other, some families are a place of haven while others are a place of chaos. No matter what happens family can never be denied based on the definition “ relation by blood”.

I currently belong to an extended family. All my life I have lived with my grand parents. I have not really had the opportunity of bonding with either my mum or my dad.

Well I will say my family is an ideal one because I get all the love I have ever wanted from my grandparents. I have never in any day regret being with them. They provide for me physically, financially, spiritually and emotionally. They have proved to be my real parents.

I know you must be wondering why I stay with my grandparents 😂. Well my mum had me during her secondary school days, probably due to ignorance. My grandparents where there for her, they never allowed her abort the child. That child grew up and became me. I was taken care of by my grandparents, infact I bear the surname of my grandfather. My mum is actually married and I have two step siblings. So I still stay with my grandparents who cater for all my needs.

I can improve my family by being very obedient to my grandparents and not choosing the course of my mum so as to make my grandparents proud of me.

My grandparents have never in any day showed or proved that their love for me is fake, either by their actions or words. They have proved to be my biggest support system. With their care, I do not totally feel bad or miss my mum. I will advice all families, no matter what happens try as much as possible to show love and make your home a haven of peace.

Wether you see family as a relation by blood or something more, each and everyone of us have a part to play especially in making the family a happy and peaceful one.
