Please Don’t Look at Me Like an Angel

Sometimes late at night, when everything becomes quiet and the village roads are empty, thoughts start walking inside the mind. Last night I saw a short video with a line written on it in Urdu:
"Mistakes have been part of my nature since the beginning.
Please don’t look at me with the eyes you use for angels."
And honestly, that line stayed in my head for a long time.
I think one of the biggest problems between people is expectation. When someone sees us as perfect, they slowly start building a picture of us that is not real. At first it feels good. We feel respected. We feel important. But later that same expectation becomes a heavy burden.
Because the truth is simple: no human being is perfect.
I remember something from my own life. In my village people often say, “This person is very calm and wise.” When someone hears that about himself, he becomes afraid of making a mistake. Because once people see you as perfect, they stop accepting your human side.
One small mistake… and suddenly people say, “I didn’t expect this from you.”
But the truth is that mistakes are not a surprise. They are part of being human.
When I was younger, I also used to judge people very quickly. If someone did something wrong, I would think maybe their character is bad. But with time and experience I realized something important: everyone is fighting battles that we cannot see.
A person who looks strong outside might be broken inside.
A person who smiles in gatherings might cry alone at night.
A person who gives advice might still be learning himself.
So how can we expect anyone to behave like an angel?
Angels don’t feel jealousy.
Angels don’t feel anger.
Angels don’t make emotional decisions.
But humans do.
And that is exactly what makes us human.
The line in that video felt very honest to me because it was not defending mistakes. It was simply saying: “Accept me as a human, not as something perfect.”
Relationships become easier when we understand this simple truth. Instead of expecting perfection from people, we should expect effort. Effort to improve. Effort to understand. Effort to stay sincere.
Perfection is impossible, but sincerity is not.
Sometimes I think life in small villages teaches this lesson better than big cities. In villages everyone knows each other’s stories. Everyone has seen each other fail, stand up again, and continue living. Maybe that is why people are a little more forgiving there.
At the end of the day, we are all travelers in this strange journey called life. We learn slowly. We fall. We stand again.
So maybe the best thing we can do for each other is simple:
Stop looking for angels among humans.
Instead, learn to accept humans as humans.
And strangely, when we do that… people start looking much more beautiful.
