Which local market have you visited and what makes it unique compared to other markets?

I visited Ghorashal Bazar in Palash Upazila of Narsingdi district. On July 1, at around 8 pm, I went there from Gate No. 1 of PRAN-RFL Industrial Park by renting only 10 taka in CNG. If you want, you can reach the market by walking for just 4-5 minutes from Bhorra Chattar in Ghorashal.

The biggest feature of Ghorashal Bazar is its cleanliness and orderly environment. Despite being such a large market, it did not feel messy anywhere. As the shops are neatly lined up, any product can be found very easily. The market is located under the Ghorashal Rail Bridge and next to the river, so the place is also quite pleasant. Farmers bring fresh products directly from the surrounding areas and Jamalpur Bazar, as a result, the prices of the products here are comparatively low and the quality is good. However, if the infrastructure of the market was further developed, it would undoubtedly have become more attractive.

But the best thing is that there is nothing that you will not get here, whether you need medicine, Modi goods or raw market, fish, meat, whatever you need, you will get everything here at your fingertips. However, due to the slightly lower prices, it is a favorite place for all classes of people as the prices are very low and since this is an industrial area, many workers work here. So it is a best place for them, this is where they get things at very low prices, which helps them. And unlike other markets, nothing is sold with formalin, since farmers bring it from the land, so it can be said with certainty that you will get absolutely pure things. Not in the case of the market, I think the prices of other things that you need are also low here.

Which products or local specialties do you find the most attractive and why?

In this market, almost everything you need is available, including raw market, fish, meat, fruits, vegetables, grocery products, medicines, cosmetics, sandals. I like the fresh vegetables and fish here the most. Since it is close to the river, fresh fish often comes and the farmers from the surrounding areas bring their produce.

I bought cucumbers and some vegetables from here. A kilogram of cucumber cost around 30 taka, whereas buying the same cucumber at other places would cost around 50 taka. The most attractive aspect of this market for me was getting good quality and fresh produce at a low price. The behavior of the vendors was very satisfactory and it worked to increase my love for this market.

How does the market reflect the lifestyle, culture and daily activities of the local people?

Visiting Ghorashal Market gave me an opportunity to see the daily life of the local people up close. The presence of children, the elderly, women, farmers, fishermen and people from different professions was noticeable in the market. Everyone came to buy their essentials and the vendors were also talking to the buyers sincerely.

Despite the relatively low prices, many were bargaining normally, which is a familiar part of our local market culture. The atmosphere was lively, full of people's noise, but at the same time clean and beautiful. These things make the market not just a place to shop, but an important part of the local people's lifestyle and culture. In this market, I saw that the people who were there spoke their regional language, which highlighted their culture even more. Especially, they called the names of vegetables and different fish by their local common names. I could not understand properly. There was someone with me who explained it to me well and after I understood everything, I became a fan of this culture.

Did you capture any unexpected or memorable moments while making your video vlog? Describe what happened and how it made your vlog more interesting.

I recorded a video of about two to two and a half minutes with my Samsung S25 phone. In the video, I captured the different shops, people's movement and the overall atmosphere of the market. I did not use any voiceover, I just captured the real scenes.

A few small incidents were quite memorable to me while making the video. I saw a little kid who was very insistent on buying a big fish from his parents. This scene, although very natural, beautifully depicted the real atmosphere of the market. In addition, the vendors were very cheerful and humorous, they were talking sincerely, which made the experience of recording the video even more enjoyable.

While returning, the sky suddenly became covered with clouds. For a while, it seemed that it might rain, but fortunately it did not rain. This changeable weather also added a different feeling to the video. All in all, my vlog has become more lively and interesting due to the natural life of the local people, the vibrancy of the market and the real environment. It was a great experience for me after starting video blogging through Steam, and if I get a chance, I would like to visit this market again in the future.
