My Religion
- 📝 What religious belief system do you belong to? (Example: Judaism, Catholicism, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, ...)
I am a young Muslim from Africa and I strongly believe in Islam, where Islam constitutes 55 percent of the population in Nigeria, making it the largest religion in Nigeria. Islam is the religion of peace, where Muslims totally submit to the will of Almighty Allah.
It is a religion in which I believe in one God who provides all our daily needs. The majority of Muslims know the teachings of Islam through Prophet Muhammad, who is the last messenger God sent to save mankind.
In the religion of Islam, we believe in the oneness of Allah, who is the creator. We believe in all the prophets of Allah, His angels, and the Last Day, which is the Judgment Day, where everyone will receive their judgment for either good or bad deeds. The Holy Quran is the book revealed directly to Prophet Muhammad, which serves as our protector and guide in this life and the hereafter.
- 📝 If you were not of that religion, which other religion would you identify with?
Islam is my way of life, which has existed for a long period of time. This means that Islam is the religion practiced by all the prophets of Allah before Prophet Muhammad. Prophet Muhammad was sent down to complete the deen for the Muslim ummah. I still hold firmly to my religion, which is a true religion that brings me closer to the Almighty Allah.
Through Him, my prayers have been answered because He said in the holy Quran, 'Call on Me and I will answer you.' He has been answering my prayers since the day I was born up to the stage I find myself at right now. Islam is my identity, my everything, and I don't think I can practice any religion other than Islam because it gives me happiness.
- 📝 What do you like most about your religion, and why would you like people to learn more about it?
I like my religion because it gives me peace of mind as well as allows me to do good with the people around me, including non-Muslims. Islam is a religion that's based on principles where Muslims are allowed to obey the rules of Allah so that they can gain in this world and the afterlife.
My religion always preaches peace, honesty, and also urges Muslims worldwide to avoid violence. Islam does not encourage killing, so killing one person or a Muslim is the same as killing the whole universe.
In Islam, we have five pillars, such as the Shahada (the belief in Allah and His messenger), praying five daily prayers Salah, which are compulsory for Muslims, fasting during the month of Ramadan, and those who are rich among us can go on the pilgrimage for Hajj, and finally, giving charity (Zakat). All these are major acts of worship in Islam, which connect Muslims worldwide.
