SEC S17W2: "Protecting children".

Every child needs love to thrive. The joy and experience of childhood is what most at times shapes the outlook of adults. Thus, having the most memorable experience in childhood normally adds beauty to adulthood.

However, it is not usually the case since most children never enjoyed their childhood. What could be the cause? One of the reasons is what I will be writing about in this engagement contest. The topic is Protecting children.
The contest tips will guide me as I explore this topic.

In your own words, what does Child Slavery mean and what are its most common manifestations?

Just like the term sounds, it means the slavery of someone who is still a child, a person that is not an adult yet. This implies that the child is usually entrusted into the hand of someone and is being exploited for another person's benefit. In most cases, the child does not have any means of getting out of that situation.

	Enslaved children beginning to be rescued

Some of the forms of child slavery are

° when these young ones are used for prostitution, pornography or some other ways they are abused sexually.

° We have also seen such children being used by their owners to beg on the street with all the money going to their owners, engage in small crimes and even drug selling or abuse.

° They are used as house keepers and the guardian collects and makes use off the money paid for such services.

° Sometimes too, they are forced into child marriage with obvious benefits to their handlers.

How does forced labor impact the lives of children?

Child labour have a negative impact on children mentally, physically, emotionally and sometimes can lead to death.

It can also translate from child labour to slavery or even economic exploitation. Such acts can lead to denying the child his or fundamental rights, restricting him from gaining basic education and healthcare.

So from any angle we want to look at it, it is very exploitative for the subject.

What strategies do you consider effective to eradicate forced child labor?

The economic situation of a place plays a vital role in eradicating forced child labour. The government should ensure that the living standard of people are improved and cost of living reduces to the barest minimum. This also means that purchasing power of the country's currency should be high.

Parents should be educated to have a number of children that they can afford to take care of irrespective the difficult economy we live in

There should be strict government regulation on the use of under aged children for hawking and other things of that sort.

There should be a provision to be paying some pocket money to underaged children to assist when they become of age. This is also obtainable in some foreign countries.

There should be proper punishment for any found or seen practicing forced child labor. Those policies should be seriously advocated and enforced.

Do you think it is fundamental for children to have the freedom to fully develop and fulfill their dreams? Explain your answer.

It is part of the fundamental human right of a child to have freedom to develop and fulfill their dreams. However, this is to be done under the wise guidance of there guardians or parents.

Allowing them explore helps them achieve their potential mentally and physically. It enables them develop laudable and.great qualities which makes them a better adult and a better citizen too.

This will also affect how they raise their own families in the future.

Conclusion

Child labour and slavery should be totally abhorred and should not be mentioned or practiced at all.
