I remember the herring in Friesland and especially on the Frisone islands were delicious.
However, I didn't enjoy Friesland as much as the rest of the Netherlands. Perhaps you can tell me why the people there are so different from other Dutch people.
I recall a celebration during the Queen's Day festival in 1995 I think; I'll never forget it, it was fantastic in Amsterdam. 🤠
I remember that in the morning, we walked on a carpet of Heineken cans. I have fond memories.

Friesland is a different folk, own language more like the Vikings plus they are used to have room, not too crowdy, mainly farmers and farmers don't speak much (are not talkative).
It's the same for those living in the east part especially the province Drente, Overrijssel is a bit better but not much.
Gelderland is more friendly. The south part is mainly kind for own people (drinking, partying, carnival blah blah) . Zeeland is a bit strange as well. Mainly water and water, farmers and a few people.
Best provinces: Zuid-Holland (South Holland) home - Noord-Holland (North Holland) and Utrecht. By now I think Utrecht is the best and both Hollands way too many foreigners, street gangs included.
Best Islands Texel (but touristic but sheep, sheep, sheep and cheese), Terschelling and best of all Schiermonnikoog (no cars allowed).
A carpet of Heiniken cans ... dirty beer, better go for Belgium beer like Tripple or Duvel.
Cans are worth money so no one will dump them in the streets unless it's to help out the homeless.
I am not fond of the k ing, never liked Bea the last one was juliana.

I miss the Netherlands, it's been over 10 years now, how things change... Back in my days, cans were not a means of subsistence for the homeless and baby gangs were a clothing brand.
In Milan, the situation is out of control; I believe that there has never been a real willingness on the part of governments to control this.
When I went there, Juliana was the queen, and I noticed a certain love among the citizens, especially within the LGBTQ communities. Like it!

As long as I am able to ignore I stay if not I get out.
