I actually started looking for some public documents that I could start experimenting with. This definitely seems useful to me, but I haven't had much time to play around with it.
One thing I really like is that an AI can reveal context that would be easily overlooked by ordinary citizens attending local meetings.
For example, maybe somebody presents at the town council meeting suggesting that the town should adopt X, Y, or Z policy. It might be useful to know that they're affiliated with an organization that's running around making the exact same proposal for 15 surrounding towns. These sorts of connections would be hard for a person to find, but fairly easy for AI to find and include in the news roundup.

I think most of them just regurgitated the latest stories, so we’d end up seeing the same thing over and over, just with different wording. I’ve always wished someone would cover a different aspect of things. I agree with you, AI can easily find a different angle on the story
