How to Deal with Haters and Jealousy

in Beauty of Creativitylast year

Greetings,

Everyone has moments when they feel insecure. Maybe they just got a new job or had an argument with a close friend that left them feeling as though they’re not good enough. Or maybe it’s something much more personal and dire. Endless negativity and jealousy can cause us to wonder if people are out to get us, but there’s a solution: just smile and move on. Here are some tips on how to deal with haters and jealous people:

Don’t let jealousy get to you.

Jealousy and insecurity are dark feelings that can cloud your judgment and leave you feeling insecure. But if you let jealousy get to you, you’re most likely going to spend too much time worrying about your success and overestimating your own efforts. This will actually hurt your productivity and creativity. Jealousy and insecurity are not the same things. Insecurity is when you feel unsure about your abilities; jealousy is when you feel others are doing better than you are. It’s important to remember that jealousy isn’t always a bad feeling, it can motivate you to improve and become a better person. However, let go of the idea that others are out to get you and that you need to be “the best.”

Be yourself, even if that means smiling while your hair is blown dry.

Most of the time, people who envy you don’t want to harm you. They may be jealous, but they don’t want to ruin your life, they want to feel better. If a person who is jealous of you sees you smiling and being yourself, they may take this as an example of what “normal” people are like, and realize that they aren’t as “cool” as they thought they were. Never feel as though you have to be someone other than yourself if it makes you nervous, but remember that “less is more.” Be who you are, and don’t be afraid to be yourself.

Remember why you started your blog or business.

You’re probably not doing it for the haters, but for those who truly care about your success. Instead of worrying about those who are criticizing you, try to remember why you started your blog: to inspire and help others. Remember to keep this in mind. Keep in mind that every critic is just an opinionated person who doesn’t know what they don’t know. It’s important not to let negative comments get you down. Instead, try to remember the purpose behind what you’re doing. The people who are criticizing you might not know what they’re talking about and besides, they don’t know what they’re missing.
