Simple & Elegant Rose Drawing - Pencil Art Technique
Today, I want to share a new piece from my sketchbook: a simple yet detailed rose. I focused on using basic pencil grades to achieve a soft, realistic look.
The Process:
Sketching (HB Pencil): I started by outlining the petals and the stem using an HB pencil. This allows for light, precise lines that are easy to adjust without leaving marks on the paper.
Shading & Depth (3B Pencil): To bring the rose to life, I used a 3B pencil for the shading. The darker lead of the 3B is perfect for creating deep shadows at the base of the petals and along the stem, giving the flower a 3D effect.
Blending: I carefully blended the transitions between the light and dark areas to maintain the delicate texture of the rose petals.
Materials Used:
HB Pencil (for the initial sketch)
3B Pencil (for shading and contrast)
Sketching paper and eraser
I really enjoyed the process of building the contrast between the soft petals and the thorny stem. I hope you find this tutorial helpful!
