Animal Photography | Golden Orb Weaver (Nephila pilipes)
Golden orb weaver or Nephila pilipes is one of the largest spiders in the world. It's found in East Asia and Southeast Asian including our province: Aceh Province in Indonesia. This spider is easily discovered around us here, it could be found at the back yard of our house, they made their net on the trees. It's striking black & yellow coloring. There are two spiders that I captured in our coffee farm. These spiders are also called Wood Spider.
The first spider has a big body with green and golden striped colour. The colour looks so beauty but scary. Although some people of Vietnam eat this kind of spiders, for me they are a scary creature. As its body is pretty big, I guess it's a female spider. She just built her net on trees to catch insects.
The second spider has smaller body. It could be a male spider. This one has a bright orange colour. And there are some white-black dots on his body.
I captured these spiders using Nikon D7100, and Lens AF-S Nikkor 18-105mm. I applied some zoom to make them look closer.
Just incredible view.
