Книжковий хробачок, огляд 7: Айн Ренд, «Гімн» - Little bookworm, review 7: Ain Rend, «Anthem»

Доброго вечора, шановна спільното!

Сьогодні у мене черговий огляд на книгу, і цього разу книга зовсім коротенька, на 134 сторінки, що можна з легкістю прочитати за один вечір. Це не роман, це невеличке оповідання, проте його такого малого достатньо, щоб змусити глибоко замислитися.

Ця книга має стояти на одній поличці разом з романами «1984», «Ми», «О новий та дивний світ». Так-так, сьогодні мова про антиутопію.

Назва книги «Гімн», автор Айн Ренд. Я спеціально вчора обирала якусь дуже швидку читанку, бо ввечері ми з друзями до одинадцятої грали і «Підземелля та Дракони», а зовсім не почитати я не могла. До того ж мені хотілося закінчити книгу того ж вечора, бо на сьогодні у мене вже є інший план щодо читання.

Через малий обсяг тут немає пʼятдесяти сторінок занурення у тему, тут ми одразу опиняємося в епіцентрі конфлікту. Є головний герой, на імʼя Рівність 7-2521, життя якого вже наперед продумано і підпорядковано певним правилам, і звісно йому від цього недобре.

Він шукає очами серед своїх братів та сестер хоч якісь ознаки, що він не единий думає, що головне щастя то взагалі не відрізнятися від усіх і бути гарним виником у величезній машині. Поки він ще малий він марить про те, що на розподіленні спеціальностей йому скажуть «Вчерий», чи хоча б «Лікар», бо він має питкий розум і дуже хочу займатися дослідженнями. Але коли настає великий день він чує на свою сторону «Прибиральник вулиць». Лише прибиральник, усе життя по колу.

Тоді він деінде знаходить печеру, у яку може тікати кожного дня по три години, і там намагається займатися дослідженнями. Він збирає на вулиці колби, трупи тварин, якісь матеріали і займається самоосвітою. Крім того він іще й закоханий, що взагалі не можна, у дівчину, яку він замість її «рівного» імʼя з цифрами зветь Золота.

Одного дня він забуває вчасно повернутися зі своєї печери та його викривають, і піддають покаранню, щоб він зізнався, де був і що робив. Але йому вдається вислизнути з рук катів та прорватися до вченої ради, де він розповідає їм, що віднайшов струм. Проте його не слухають і гонять, кажучи про те, що пʼятдесят великих розумів винайшли свічку, і це було велике відкриття, і не можна його так зневажати.

Він тікає у ліс поруч, і ніхто за ним не женеться. Проте на наступний день Золота його наздожинає і каже, що краще буде жити з ним у вигнанні, ніж повернеться до того картонного світу.

У своїй подорожі вони вчаться полювати щоб прогодувати себе, йдуть далі і далі від міста, і зрештою натрапляють на будинок, який вже давно полишений, і який відноситься до часів ДО, до того, як всі стали однаковими.

Тобто взагалі-то хеппі енд, такий нехарактерний для антиутопій.

Вдруге перечитувати я її не буду, тож завтра віднесу до бібліотеки. Проте може у порадити книгу тим, хто любить такий жанр. Проте приємно побачити, що у письменниці поруч з «Атлантом», який є чудовим зразком Дуже Поганої Літератури, є пристойні твори.

Today I have another book review, and this time the book is quite short, 134 pages, which can be easily read in one evening. It's not a novel, it's a short story, but it's so small it's enough to make you think deeply.

This book should be on the same shelf together with the novels "1984", "We", "O new and strange world". Yes, yes, today we are talking about dystopia.

The title of the book is "Anthem" by Ayn Rand. I specially chose a very fast reader yesterday, because in the evening my friends and I played "Dungeons and Dragons" until eleven, and I could not read at all. Besides, I wanted to finish the book that same evening, because today I already have another plan for reading.

Due to the small volume, there are not fifty pages of immersion in the topic, here we immediately find ourselves in the epicenter of the conflict. There is a main character named Rivnost 7-2521, whose life has already been thought out in advance and is subject to certain rules, and of course he does not feel good about it.

He looks among his brothers and sisters for any signs that he is not the only one who thinks that the main happiness is not to be different from everyone else and to be a good cog in a huge machine. While he is still small, he dreams that at the distribution of specialties he will be called "Yesterday", or at least "Doctor", because he has a quick mind and really wants to do research. But when the big day comes, he hears the "Street Cleaner" on his side. Only a cleaner, the whole life in a circle.

Then he finds a cave elsewhere, into which he can escape for three hours every day, and there he tries to do research. He collects flasks, animal corpses, some materials on the street and engages in self-education. In addition, he is also in love, which is impossible at all, with a girl whom he calls Zolot instead of her "equal" name with numbers.

One day he forgets to return from his cave in time and is exposed and punished to confess where he has been and what he has been doing. But he manages to escape from the hands of the executioners and break through to the scientific council, where he tells them that he has found the current. However, they do not listen to him and chase him, saying that fifty great minds invented the candle, and this was a great discovery, and he should not be so despised.

He runs away into the woods nearby, and no one chases him. However, the next day Zolota catches up with him and says that she would rather live with him in exile than return to that cardboard world.

In their journey, they learn to hunt to feed themselves, go further and further from the city, and eventually come across a house that has long been abandoned, and which dates back to the time BEFORE, before everyone became the same.

That is, in general, a happy end, so uncharacteristic for dystopias.

I will not reread it a second time, so I will take it to the library tomorrow. However, I can recommend the book to those who like this genre. However, it is nice to see that the writer has decent works next to "Atlant", which is an excellent example of Very Bad Literature.
