Initially, I was so happy to read that at least one of the five puppies had survived and thought "what an apt name" was given.... how sad!!! I have so much admiration and respect for people who do work like this with animals. It must be soul destroying at times to deal with certain circumstances :( but... as a fur child lover myself - I do know that the rewards far out weigh the challenges.

Looking at it soberly: it is questionable whether there would have been suitable and good owners in Germany for Laika puppies of unknown crossbreeding. These were very unfortunate omens and the fact that we were at least able to help Akita back on her feet is worth its weight in gold...
