Have you seen it? ☢️

in Ukraine on Steemlast month (edited)

On my way to Perth Australia i watched the miniseries about the Chornobyl nuclear disaster, i watched 3 of the 5 episodes on the way over to Perth and watched the last couple on my return flight.

Even though i saw each episode i wanted to watch them again once i got home, just so i could fully focus on each episode.

Today i just finished the series again, i never knew a lot about what happened and i am not even sure if this series paints the full picture.

I did really enjoy it and found it interesting but also sad, if you are looking for a good watch or have seen it already let me know what you think/thought.

"Every lie we tell incurs a debt to the truth, sooner or later that debt is paid"

Valery Legasov

I never realized there was so much lying in the years leading up to the disaster and straight after the event.

Its sad to think so many people scarified there lives to save other lives.

After watching it i started thinking we have a community here on Steemit from Ukraine, have any of you watched this series? do you have personal experiences related to this event?

Has anyone on here been close to Chornobyl?

Like i said above if you are looking for something to watch then watch this.

Thanks for reading my post today!

I was one year old when the disaster happened, so I can't tell you anything from my own experience. However, when I was a schoolboy, people who were participants in the liquidation of the consequences of the reactor explosion were invited to our meeting. What they told, in particular about how they carried the concrete wreckage of the reactor with their bare hands, clearly corresponds to what is shown in the series. I think this series reflects the truth about the tragic events of 1986 in sufficient detail.

As far as I know, there is still a ban on living in the 30 kilometer exclusion zone around Chernobyl, but many people ignore it.

Very interesting..

Have you ever been to the disaster site?

 last month

No, I have not been either to the exclusion zone or near it, although I know that excursions are offered there, I think they are unofficial.

Much of this was also hidden from the Western world. Excellent series. The Russians say it's propaganda, which, of course, means it's likely true.

yes the lies before during and after were shocking.

I think I saw it. I know I watched a series on Chernobyl recently, but I'm not sure if it was the one on HBO. I also remember when it happened. The combined fear that followed after Chernobyl and Three Mile Island basically killed the nuclear energy industry in the US for most of my lifetime. It's only now that we're starting to see some new activity starting to happen.

Ah yes i forgot about 3 mile island ☢️

I haven't seen this series, but I can still remember the Chernobyl nuclear disaster very well (well, we are ‘almost neighbours’ to Ukraine here). It was in 1986, almost 40 years ago. And even today, people still point out that you should be careful when eating mushrooms because of the radiation exposure caused by the disaster back then. But I think that's only the case in over-regulated Germany. The Ukrainian electrician (born in 1986) who fitted our solar system has never heard of this ‘warning’ in his life...

We're only asked not to pick and eat mushrooms in the radius 70 km from Chornobyl. But I think people still pick them. May be now it stopped cause a huge part of that area is mined by russian invaders.

70 km seems to me to be quite a small radius... Well, the main thing is that people still think about it a bit. Especially as you certainly have bigger problems now than (possibly) radioactive mushrooms... 😔
Many thanks for the report and the pictures of "The Real Tschornobyl".

Thank you so much!
You know, its like in Nagasaki: some people had died because of radiation, some people got cancer, but some received super strong immunity. 🙃

Hey, sorry for the totally unrelated question but what's the purpose of the spam-filter account? I created a new account to share only B&W works of mine and got 1% vote from it, it feels as some sort of tagging?
Have a great weekend!

Gonna answer in your post... ;-)

At least our Solar panels will not explode, if you get a chance you should watch this.

Yes, thanks for the recommendation: we watched the first two parts yesterday. Fascinating. But the best thing is that we kept coming back to Wiki in between and remembering 1986. Cool. Enough rambling - I've run out of time and have to watch the next episode... ;-)

It's ok when you quote HBO, it's not your mistake 🤝👌🏽 But thank you so much for being just friendly☀️

Nothing paints the truth since the truth is seen through the eyes of the maker or teller and no one is raised objective.
If you ask 20 people to tell about the same horror they were present at being at the same spot they all will tell a different version.

Also memory and interpretation tricks.
We remember the last time we thought of that memory so the memory changes.

Humankind is sad, makes mistakes. Small ones with big results, for big and on purpose they get rewarded and the results are the same.

I watched it and no longer watch these films and documentaries same for WWs. It's enough and I also no longer trust the news and history. I've seen the history change 3-4 times from the time I went to school. I see facts being wiped out, different visions being forced upon (wikipedia and now chatgpt are good examples just like Hollywood films always bringing up the same topics) I rather make my own discovery journey via different sources.

A good day/evening to you.
♥️🍀

Have to agree with everything you said

especially this

it's enough and I also no longer trust the news and history

Thanks and have a good day

I haven't watched the series yet...in the school holiday season which is only a few weeks away, I will find out and watch about the film. Thank you for your recommendation.

Have a nice weekend

Its a really good watch - i highly recommend it
