Contest - "Object of the Week" #68

Greetings, steemers!

I hope you're all great. I'm back for another week of this contest after 1 week of absence. Thank you @strecoza for bringing this contest week after week ♥

The object of this week is one I'm familiar with...

Object of the Week

So today the object is Alcohol.

This is indeed an interesting object because alcohol can be stored in any kind of material. We can find alcohol in glass bottles, plastic bottles, wooden barrels, leather and maybe another material I'm not mentioning.

Alcohol has always run in my family. Whether they were in a good economical condition (mostly during the 80's and the 90's) or in a bad economical condition (since 1999 when Hugo Chavez won the presidential elections), alcohol has always been there in holidays and birthdays.

Actually, apart from my family, no matter how poor people from Venezuela are, it seems like the poorer they are, the more alcohol they drink. This would be an excellent thesis for a sociological study, no joke intended.

The main photo of this post is one I just took when collecting all the bottles (full and empty) that I found at home. Some of them have been brought by visitors, friends of my mom who suddenly show up and want to share a drink.

From left to right:

Both green bottles, the ones who look obviously more expensive than the rest, were brought by one of my mom's friends in two different occasions. The one in the middle was one bottle of rum we shared here on my sister's birthday. The next bottle, which is the full one (even though it is not notorious), is one I was drinking with a couple of friends. And the last one is a bottle of _sangria_ that was given to my sister on her birthday.

Types of drinks:

1. Whisky

As I mentioned above, these bottles are more expensive than the others. This is due to the fact that they are whisky bottles, which is an expensive type of alcohol here. Therefore, we are not able to get one of these. The friend of my mom who brought these bottles at home is a medium-upper class man.

2. Rum

Rum, as well as beer, is the most consumed liquor in this country. Rum is way cheaper than whisky and even than beer. Rum is a versatile liquor and you can mix it with coca-cola or the juice of your preference, especially if it is white rum.

There is also another type of cheap liquor that is highly consumed here, but I don't have any bottles to show you. Its name is "anisette" or "anis" as we know it. Its flavor is sweet, and it makes people get drunk easily because of it. It is my favorite drink.

3. Sangria

Sangria is a kind of wine. It is actually a cheap wine that is mixed with fruit juice and sweeteners like syrup (in some cases). Its flavor is sweet and delicious.

Thanks for reading!
