I don’t completely agree here. Yes, different smart electronic devices that perform one specific task already make our lives much easier today. But I still wouldn’t call them robots in the true sense of the word.

For me, a robot is something much more: a universal machine that could perform different tasks, including simple routine work, much like a human can.

But then another question comes up: is it already a human, or is it still a robot?

This is where I thought of the story by Isaac Asimov, The Bicentennial Man (more precisely, it was originally a short story). Later, together with Robert Silverberg, Asimov expanded it into a novel called The Positronic Man. There is also a 1999 movie, Bicentennial Man, based on these works.

Тут я не зовсім згоден. Так, різні розумні електронні пристрої, які виконують одну конкретну функцію, вже сьогодні дуже полегшують нам життя. Але я б усе ж не називав їх роботами в прямому сенсі.
Для мене робот — це щось значно більше: універсальна машина, яка могла б виконувати різні завдання, у тому числі звичайну рутинну роботу, приблизно так само, як це робить людина.
Але тоді постане питанні - це вже людина чи все ще робот?
Тут саме я згдав книгу того ж Азімова «Двохсотлітня людина»(точніше це поповідання) яке пізніше разом з Робертом Сілвербергом переросло в книгу "Позитронний чоловік" - є й фільм 1999 року "Двохсотлітня людина"
