That's fascinating...

The sheeps are in parasite-Free world at the moment.., I guess it must be their prime season as well.

So it's like Germany is getting a taste of its old normal back perse.

We are dealing with unpredictable rains and heatwaves in some places here in Nigeria.

Today, most children in northern Germany no longer know from experience what either of these sports and play equipment are.

Oh poor kids!

No, no, that's not what I meant. It just hasn't snowed much in recent years. And it was never cold enough for the lakes to freeze over. I mean, with a thick layer of ice that you can safely walk on, that will hold your weight. This winter, there are even ice floes on the Baltic Sea beach. That's very rare, as salt water only freezes at extremely low temperatures.
The children simply hadn't had the opportunity to go ice skating or sledging for a very long time.
If you have any questions, go ahead! I am aware that I am talking to someone who has never seen frozen waters before... 😉

Northern Germany, yes. In southern Germany, the situation is quite different. There, they are also battling against masses of water, river flooding and landslides caused by excessive rainfall.
Nothing is normal anymore. Spring and summer 2025 were far too hot and dry here in the north. I was already considering emigrating to the Arctic... 😉

I get it now. I think I've seen this many times on movies. Most times, i thought it's fiction. For a whole lake..., river etc to freeze.., that's like a miracle to me 😀.

How do human survive this period...? what's it like skating on the Baltic Sea ice? I hope I have opportunity to try this someday in my lifetime by the way.

Oh, you can't ice skate on the Baltic Sea. There's no flat surface, just small patches of ice. You mustn't go out on them, it's far too dangerous. Just last weekend, a man and his 5-year-old (!) son had to be rescued. How stupid can you be???
Even if a large area were frozen over, it wouldn't be smooth because of the waves. Not suitable for ice skating.

But skating (or even just walking) on a large lake is an amazing experience. When the thick ice cracks, the sound waves in the deep lake turn into a dull rumbling. Very impressive! And a little eerie...

Haha, you should ask the Inuit at the North Pole. You can protect yourself from the cold with good clothing and furs (sheep show us how).
I tend to ask myself this question in certain parts of Africa. What else can you take off in the heat? What can you drink? Here, you can always melt snow if necessary.
No, no, better too cold than too hot... 😇
