In the midst of crises means to be in a situation of danger, difficulties or in a critical place that requires decision making and the type of decision made will either worsen or improve the situation.

There are a lot of crises that people go through in life. Sometimes it could be financial crises where someone enters into alot of debt due to a mistake in financial decisions. It could be a health crises where someone of faced with a terminal illness or the health is in joepardy.

It could family crises where there’s a problem between siblings or marriage crises where a husband and wife’s marriage is at the verge of crashing. Difference people have different challenges to deal with daily as they navigate through life. When someone is going through any of these challenges, the person can be said to be in the midst of crises depending on the extent.

When in the midst of crisis, what do you usually do, like the first thing you do? How do you handle it? (It can be personal, academic, financial, or emotional.)

In my tine of growing up, I have encountered different types of crises and crises moment. These moments come in so unexpectedly that they usually throw one off balance but as long as we are in life, these challenges are always a part of life.

From my experience, there are a couple of things I do in the midst of crises but the first amongst them all would be to pray to God. As a Christian, I know that God cares for me and he’s interested in my welfare and he said in the Bible that we should not lean on our own understanding rather in all things we should acknowledge him and he will direct our path.

Hence, I take my problems and challenges to him in prayer and seek directions for a way out. His counsel sometimes comes in form of peace in my heart, or strength to go through it. Sometimes it’s a scripture that he sheds in my spirit and sometimes he gives me ideas on what to do.

Another thing I do is to talk to trusted friends whom I know I can share my challenges with and they will be there to give me a shoulder to cry on and also offer good solutions. A problem shared they say is half solved. They may not really give tangible help but having someone to share your burdens and challenges with goes along way to relive the emotional burden.

Do you believe crises make people stronger or weaker? Explain your view.

Basically just as how the value of gold is not known until it’s passed through the fire, that’s how we should become stronger through crises but that’s just a default state and not everyone has that experience.

People react to challenges differently. Some persons are broken by challenges while some are made better. How each persons turned out boils down to perception and the persons heart and disposition.

Challenges are actually meant to make us better and not bitter but I have seen so many people turn so bitter and hard due to the things they have been through in life but it ought not to be so. We should pass through these crises moments and be one stronger, better and wiser in a positive way.

What lesson(s) did you learn from that experience, and how has it shaped you today?

I’ve learnt a lot through the crises moments I’ve been through. I’ve actually learnt not o expect much from people and also leave rooms for people to disappoint so that I don’t get all hurt. I have trusted alot of people in the past. Maybe over trust them. Well, I don’t really expect much from people again cos I’ve come to know the nature of man. I won’t be suprised if I heard someone I helped back stabbed me.

Men will always be men. So I expect the worst and won’t be suprised when they actually show their true self. When you expect so much from people and they don’t deliver, you get disappointed, but you won’t be disappointed when there’s no expectation. Expectation they say is the mother of disappointment.

I’ve also learnt that because most people forget easily and don’t appreciate good thing, I’ve decided that whatever I do for people, I will do it because of God and not because of them. In that way, I know my reward comes from God and not them. Even if they don’t get to appreciate it, I will still not loose knowing that it’s God that repays.

I will also not change who I am because people choose to be mean and wicked. I will always help and be the good person that I am whenever it’s in my capacity to do so. We will all reap what we sowed at the long run.

When it comes to finances, I’ve learnt that greed is the starting point of financial failure because I have been a victim to Ponzi scams. Wealth is not built in one day and above all, money is very important. Meanwhile the person that says that money cannot buy happiness does not know where to go shopping.
