Simple solutions to reducing poverty
Our society is faced with a lot of problems that continually threaten our lives in different dimensions. Poverty, cultism, kidnapping, unemployment, insecurity, and theft has dealt so much in the society. Where these social anomalies continue to persist, the society continue to degenerate leaving many people to become vulnerable.
Our society is fast becoming volatile owing to the factors I mentioned above. For instance, the world bank, a multilateral lender, has projected that poverty would increase in many countries this year 2026. The world bank has been doing a lot to reduce poverty by granting loans to countries whose populace are wallowing in poverty. The grants they issue are aimed at empowering women economically, boosting agriculture, and skills.
It is on the above stance that I have chosen to discuss on the topic of "poverty".
Reducing poverty is not just a challenge to be faught by a particular sector. It involves a combined efforts of the government, organized private sector, as well as individuals and communities. But attention and high expectations are made on the government due to the amount of resources that the government controls.
Before now, the government launched a number of programs aimed at reducing poverty, but these programs didn't succeed or see the light of the day. Notwithstanding the challenges of not implementing poverty alleviation programs, more solutions would still be profered to continue to mount pressure on the authorities concerned.
There has been a lot of solutions been profered, all of them end up in the white paper as those who are in authority, are not doing enough to implement the solutions made. However, due to emerging economic challenges, new solutions are required to tackle or break the poverty lines as outlined below:
Encourage rural/community development:
Establish cooperative societies
To reduce poverty in the rural communities, there should be platforms set up where the rural populace could form unions or thrift associations aimed at improving and establishing businesses in the rural areas.Infrastructure development in the rural area
Good roads, markets, clean water, electricity are some of the infrastructures which has strong positive impacts in reducing poverty.Controlling birth rate
Bloated or over population adds pressure to economic resources. To reduce the level of poverty, the population should be controlled by birth rate.Creating access to credit facilities or schemes
There should be interest free loans to enable the people in the rural communities embark on micro businesses.
- Skills acquisition programs
Establishing a well supervised and functional skills acquisition centers will help the poorest persons to acquire a self sustaining means of income.
I know a lot has been written on ways of reducing poverty, my contribution here is a drop in the ocean. But then, we must keep advocating for a better life for everyone in the society.
There is a high level of poverty in the land. Several measures has been taken yet, the gap between the rich and the poor keeps increasing. This increasing gap is because of the fact that, there's no sincerity on the part of the government and the private sectors empowering the populace.
If there is anything needing an urgent attention, introducing schemes and implementing the schemes to reducing poverty, should be the first line charge.

Hi @avalanch, it was nice to read you post and also to think about the issue that you highlighted. Poverty is one of the biggest problem in many countries and communities. It is indeed difficult to find an easy solution. When I think about the way out I always think what one can do to reduce his/her expenses and that would be for example to move to land and start up own products, of course, it is important to have good productive soil that will allow to grow simple stuff like potatoes, carrots, onion and maybe to have some chicken and maybe one cow. With all of that it is at least easy to have food and one do not need to buy them or even to sell, of course for little money but everything will start little. Important that person have a dream and goal. Wishing you good luck in challenge!
Hi @avalanch, welcome to thinking and ideas week 1
Your response is incomplete. I guess you did not read my questions before responding.
