Steem4nigeria Accelerator Contest Week 89: Life Goes On.
Such an amazing contest topic. Life goes on is a popular phrase I have been listening to in a song by 2pac - a music legend. Well, I have been personally seeking for chance to pen down my own version of this phrase and @steem4nigeria just put up a contest for me on this. I will say, thank you @steem4nigeria.
As for me, "Life goes on" is one among thousand hardest truths wrapped in the simplest words. This means that no matter how broken one may feel, the world won't, not just won't but can never pause to wait for you to heal from whatever pin you down. People will still go to work, markets will still open, the sun will still rise and all this will happen without you.
Briefly, this was my first encounter trying to
understood the phrase life goes on fully and this happened on the day I lost my grandmother, the one who raised me. I remember stepping outside after the burial in my hometown expecting the sky to look different, the air to feel heavy. But people were buying goods across my street, shouting over change, people where full will gist and laughing and at that’s moment was when it hit me: the world moves on, even when your world falls apart.
But there's also hope in that. The hope that, If life doesn’t stop, then maybe, just maybe, I don’t have to stop either.
2. Does "Life goes on" make you feel better when something bad happens, or does it not help? Why?
---
It will be impossible to feel better at a time when something bad happen. So, at first, it never helps. And to be honest, when someone tells me "life goes on" in the middle of pain, it makes me feels like they’re skipping over what I feel. It's like trying to use a band-aid on a broken heart.
But later, when the pain softens, I understand why those words are spoken. They were never meant to be a cure but a reminder, one with a gentle push that says, “Don’t let this moment define you forever.” So no, it doesn’t make me feel better right away but with time, it becomes the very sentence that keeps me standing.
3. Knowing that we only have a certain amount of time, how does that change how you live?
---
Sometime, what we know might be a curse or blessings to us. So, knowing my time is limited has changed everything. Because I will no longer wait to say “I love you” or “I forgive you.” I don’t sit on dreams for years anymore and I try even if I fail because time is too precious to keep saying “later.”
This is why I write, create, enjoy, and try to be kind even when I don’t feel like it. I’ve learned that the best use of limited time is to live meaningfully. And for me, that means making sure people feel my impact in all possible way I can offer them help and loved before this time get whisk away from me someday.
4. What does it mean to be strong and bounce back from tough times? How do you do that?
---
There is this popular phrase I hear too while growing up. They say, "men don't cry" well, I grew up to learn that Luck Dube is the legendary behind that one. So, being strong doesn’t mean you don’t cry, it means you still move even with tears in your eyes. It’s waking up with a heavy heart and deciding to face the day anyway. It’s knowing you can break and still build yourself back.
For me, bouncing back means talking to people I trust. It means journaling, praying and sometimes just sitting quietly to breathe. It means forgiving myself when I’m not okay and choosing to try again tomorrow.
I don’t always feel strong. But every time I survive something I once thought would break me, I realize: strength isn’t loud but It’s about been quiet, It’s consistent and living in every little decision to keep going.
"Life goes on" doesn’t mean we should forget pain. Of course that very pain become strength so, why forgetting it. Rather, Life goes on means we should grow through it. It means that even after loss, heartbreak or disappointment there’s still love to give, laughter to share and a life worth living.
Of my own, I’m not just going on. I’m growing on and that makes all the difference.
I invite @goodybest @ngoenyi @uduak01 to participate in the contest
