Results Announcement || What were you told Steemit is, an online business, a social media or a writing platform?

It's interesting to know see 15 entries for this just concluded contest about steemit. From what I read in these entries, I discovered how vast we are on this platform and what we know and are limited to. It's also sad to know that most people don't know what steemit is other than the financial incentives its offers. Perhaps, we were not told straight what steemit is all about and our understanding was limited to just the money when we sign up.

In this result announcement post, I'll spell out briefly what steemit is all about in summary. From the entries read, you guys did so well in placing emphasis on it not being an online business platform but yet, no one was able to explain this platform well to my taste. Take note of these

Steemit is a social media platform and not just anyhow platform. Just like Facebook and WhatsApp are social media platforms used for socialising with people from other countries and also creating educative contents for likes, creating informative contents and engaging with people from other countries round the world is done on steemit.

When these contents are created on Facebook and WhatsApp, likes and comments and gotten until a content creator reaches a particular amount of followers, get verified and monetize his account before the owner, Mark starts paying him. Without these, you can't get paid. This isn't so on steemit.

The contents created on steemit if quality are rewarded with crypto currency that can be exchanged for cash. You don't need to reach a particular level or amount of followers to earn these rewards. That's the difference. Steemit is web 3, meaning it runs on a decentralized system where there's no central user that controls it whereas, Facebook is web 2 and runs on a centralized system with a central user who is Mark.

So let those you tell about steemit not see it as an online business or an investment platform or a platform that's solely on getting financial incentives because there's more on steemit than these incentives. Anyone can discover his or her talents on steemit, learn and be informed on many things and also improve on their writing skills. This is the basics.
