Greetings my dear friends, and happy new month. I am delighted to be part of this week's contest and to give my input on the subject matter "What I Will Never Do For Money."

• Briefly share with us what you understand by Money

Money is anything measurable and generally accepted as a means of exchange for goods, services, and the settlement of debts. It can be in the form of coins, paper or digital/electronic as the case may be. Money is very important because it makes people buy and sell their goods and services. Money whether in the form of coin, paper or digital is unique from other commodities because of the following properties:

  • Acceptability
  • Portability
  • Stability
  • Easy to be recognised.

Money is a force that commands respect, that has influence and can buy virtually everything except life. The love of money the Bible says, is the root of all kinds of evil (1Timothy 6:10).

• Are there things you will never do to get it no matter how pressured you are to get it?

Yes, there are many things I can not do to get money no matter how pressured I am and here are a few of these things:

  1. Stealing/robbery: This is the act of taking someone's property (including money) forcefully or without permission. This is something I will never do regardless of my challenges. The Bible commands in Exodus 20:15 that "You shall not steal."
  2. Money ritual: This refers to an evil practice of human sacrifice to generate quick or instant money. Money ritual is a bad practice that promotes kidnapping and mutilation of the human body.
  3. Prostitution: This is the act of getting paid for having sexual intercourse with an individual that is not your husband or wife. The society and the Bible frowns at it. 1 Corinthians 6:18: "Flee from sexual immorality."
  4. Selling of harmful substances like cocaine: Engaging in illegal business like selling cocaine may be a lucrative business but it is an offencive act before God and the law of the land.
  5. Kill for money: Many people have become hired assassins were they are paid to go and kill someone. This happens because of greed and placing monetary gain above human life.

The points listed above are morally wrong and unacceptable in our society. It is also against my faith as a Christian.

• Have you been tempted or lured into the very things you vowed not to do to get money? Kindly share with us your experience.

No! I have never been lured or tempted to steal, prostitute or be involved in cultic ritual for the sake of making money. Therefore, I have nothing to share here.

• Why have you chosen not to cross a certain line because of money? Use your point as strong advice to your readers.

I have chosen not to cross a certain line for the purpose of making money because some of the points I mention here like stealing, killing and money ritual are what I will never want to happen to me, my children or anybody close to me. The points are also morally wrong and unacceptable in society. Therefore, I avoid them and preach against them so that I may be a good citizen. I prefer to beg or manage what I have than to become wealthy through these means and live off the victims and their families in pain.

Conclusions
Money is good, it commands respect and solves many problems but the emotional attachment and greed associated with it make others want to acquire it through perverse means. I invite @maryam86, @selina1 and @elsa-queen to support and join the contest.

Thank You All
