A warm greetings to everyone and welcome to my blog. Once again I am going to participate in this amazing drawing contest by @benton3. Today I am going to draw a starfish.

Materials I asked in the drawing

• A sheet of paper
• A pencil with eraser

Step by step procedures of how I drew the starfish

Step 1.
I drew the arms of the starfish.

Step 2.
I drew the spines in a zigzag way on all the arms of the starfish.

Step 3.
I drew the central disc of the starfish.

Step 4.
I drew the small scales of the starfish and I put the madreporite and the anus inside the central disc.

Step 5.
I Drew some lines in the arms of the starfish and some dots in the central disc then I made a light shading.

I've only heard of the fish but I haven't seen it before.

Tell us about starfish and the type of water it lives in.

Starfish which is also known as sea stars are marine creatures that are star-shaped. It is an invertebrate creature which means that it does not have a back bone. There are different species of starfish and all of them have different body building, Some have 5 arms while some have 6, 7 and more. As the species differ so do the colors, some of them have bright colors while others are red, orange, blue or grey. The different species have different way of feeding themselves. Some feed themselves with other animals like clams, oyster, sponges while some eats other fishes especially the ones that got injured and was unable to move away quickly.

This creature are hermaphrodite meaning that they can reproduce both sexually and asexually. Another unique characteristics of this creature is that they can regenerate their damaged parts when injured or when they lost their arms but the disadvantage is that during the early stage of the lost parts, they will be vulnerable to infections. The larger species of the starfish usually have a longer lifespan than the smaller starfish.

Starfish are purely marine creatures, they live in a salty water. Because of the high salinity of the saltwater, they are adapted to it in the sense that they cannot survive in a fresh water.

Different between starfish and kite

• Starfish is a creature that lives in water while kite is an object made with nylon or paper with a rope attached to it to enable it to fly in the air.

• Starfish are living things while kite are nonliving things.

• Starfish can reproduce either sexually or asexually while kite does not reproduce.

• It is called a starfish because it has a star shape while a kite is a quadrilateral, meaning that it has a four-sided shape with two pairs of adjacent sides.
