Hello Steemians šŸ¤
I appreciate everyone who took time to read Episode 1 of this story. Your support means more than words can explain.

Today, I bring you Episode 2 where questions grow heavier, silence becomes suspicious, and love begins to feel like a lonely place.
So let's proceed

End bit of episode 1 šŸ‘‡

ā€œI tried,ā€ he said quietly. ā€œI really did.ā€
ā€œTried what?
My voice shook.
ā€œTried to love me?ā€
He didn’t answer.

Silence confessed what words couldn’t.
ā€œI didn’t choose this,ā€ he continued, tears welling in his eyes. ā€œI knew this was only the beginning.

Married to a Gay — Episode 2

Title: The Things We Don’t Name

The silence after his words was louder than any argument we could have had.
ā€œI didn’t choose this.ā€
He said it like a confession… but also like a shield.

I wanted to scream.
I wanted to ask what exactly he didn’t choose.
But something in his eyes warned me this truth had layers, and I was only standing at the door.

ā€œThen why marry me?ā€
I asked, barely above a whisper.

Daniel rubbed his face slowly, as if the answer weighed more than he could carry.
ā€œI thought marriage would fix it,ā€ he said.
ā€œI thought love… responsibility… God… would straighten everything.ā€
Straighten.

The word cut me deeper than any insult.
ā€œSo I am your solution?ā€ I asked.
ā€œA prayer? A sacrifice?ā€
He looked away.
That was answer enough.
From that night, something shifted in our home.
Not openly.
Not dramatically.
But quietly… dangerously.

Daniel became more careful.
More composed.
More present, but only on the surface.
He prayed louder.
Quoted scriptures about discipline and purpose.
Held my hand in public like a devoted husband.
But at night, his body still withdrew from mine like it was afraid.
And the phone…
The phone never left his side.
He stopped taking calls in the sitting room.
He stepped outside.
Lowered his voice.
Smiled in ways that were never meant for me.

One afternoon, while folding his clothes, his phone buzzed on the bed.
A name flashed on the screen.
No picture.
Just one word.
ā€œD.ā€
My heart skipped.
I didn’t open the message.
I didn’t need to.
Because Daniel rushed in, picked up the phone too fast, and said
ā€œThat’s from church.ā€
Church!!
I nodded.

But something inside me hardened.
That night, I lay awake beside him, counting his breaths, wondering how a man could sleep so peacefully beside a woman he was slowly destroying.

I started noticing things I had ignored before.
How he never spoke about desire.
How every conversation about children made him uncomfortable.
How he flinched when his friends joked about women.
And how defensive he became whenever I asked questions.

ā€œWhy are you suddenly investigating me?ā€ he snapped one night.
ā€œIs being kind not enough for you?ā€
Kind!!
As if kindness could replace intimacy.
As if kindness could silence the ache of being unwanted by your own husband.

One evening, his mother visited unexpectedly.
She watched us closely.
Too closely.
Later, while Daniel was outside, she held my hands and said softly—
ā€œBe patient with my son.ā€
That was all.
No explanation.
No comfort.
Just patience.
And in that moment, I realized something terrifying:
I wasn’t the only one who knew.
Whatever Daniel was hiding…
It wasn’t new.

That night, as I stood by the window watching him pace outside, phone pressed to his ear, laughing quietly

I understood the truth I had been avoiding.
I wasn’t married to a confused man.

I was married to a man at war with himself.
And I was standing right in the middle of the battlefield.

To be continued… (Episode 3)

Closing Note...

Some marriages don’t break suddenly.
They crack slowly…
Through silence.
Through secrets.
Through truths that refuse to be named.
In Episode 2, denial deepens, and the walls around the truth grow thicker.
But how long can a secret survive when love is watching closely?

  • šŸ’ Who really knew the truth from the beginning?
  • šŸ’ Is Daniel fighting his nature, or protecting it?
  • šŸ’ And how much can a woman endure before patience turns into pain?
