THE DIARY GAME/07-12-2024/THE REAPING HOUR

Greetings to every steemian, it's a pleasure to share with you how a part of my weekend went. Weekends to some persons is really engaging.

Last week Friday at around, 6pm, I left Uyo,the capital of Akwa-Ibom State to my village in Ikot Ekpene for an event that was to commence that same Friday by 10am and was to last for about 4-5hrs. I knew I wouldn't meet up with the event any longer even before that day, when I got informed that a test that was postponed in school by one of our organic chemistry lecturers had been slated for that same Friday by 2pm, what a coincidence!; I had no option than to stay behind and write the test though I still had to embark on that journey after the test because it was an opportunity to meet with one of my siblings I haven't seen one-on-one for more than two years or thereabout.

She also traveled home on Thursday, thousands of kilometers away for this event not minding her busy schedule. She was to leave on Saturday for another engagement; we had to visit the farmland around the house to get some farm produce for her to take with her. On the early hours of Saturday, I had to assist my mom in harvesting some crops. I harvested plaintian, banana, coconut and plucked some oranges, while my mom got her some water leaves, wild spinach which she took time to slice. She also got her some appreciable amount of garri, an essential item in our country at this time of economic meltdown. She was privileged to travel with good amount of these farm produce.

Some people see farming as been stressful but I see it as a system that helps an individual to spend less on some agricultural products, though I'm not against the fact that it requires a lot of effort.

The earth crust is blessed with so many mineral resources which have been used in the production of many useful products. To farmers, the earth is very essential for the cultivation of crops as well as the rearing of some particular kind of livestock for human consumption.

One of the most essential needs of man is food; both plants and animals need food to survive; and the earth happens to be the major source of food.

Soil scientists are of the notion that certain crops thrive in certain areas due to the nutrient make-up and environmental conditions of the area, though with the level of technological advancement in the agro sector there have been a tremendous improvement in the cultivation of crops.

Harvesting of plaintian requires some skills which must be applied judiciously or else you might end up damaging other plaintian stands, especially when they are tightly packed.

It is not advisable to harvest plantains with a decent clothes due to the plaintian sap whose stain is difficult to remove.

Some people use a long-pointed bamboo stick to harvest the plantain in cases where the plaintian stem is many inches high.

When I was still an illiterate in the mineral composition of plaintian, I use to imagine how 'iron' is one of the major constituent in plantain, I was trying to relate it with the steel materials we have around our environment. How can one be consuming steel? All thanks to the power of education.

These items are quite expensive where she's staying,so it was an opportunity for our beloved mom to gather some of this farm produce for her. Before travelling back to the city on Sunday evening, I had to pay some persons a visit. I really enjoyed the short visit; getting in touch with my mom, sister and many other persons. It was really worthwhile.
I couldn't get enough photos of this happenings due to my handicapped phone camera which would be sorted out soon. If you're privileged to own a farmland don't leave it dormant, sow at the right time, maintaining the right conditions and you will be smiling out of your farm with basketful of its product. I'll like @nsijiro @bossj23 and @basil20 to share their opinion about farming; Is it a worthwhile activity?

The writeup is amazing, I love coincidence it test our ability to make fast decisions never leaving us indecisive, the test went well and I know your score already because you are a genius, iron is one major and important component in foods and it has the ability to stay longer in the stomach when consumed, school life needs foods like this, you sis was back to join this amazing event no wonder you never wanted to stay back though it was late.

The agricultural sector is a nice venture and I would love to delve to this area soon because without it there is lesser chance for survival, I wish you the best bro, you spelt my username wrongly but with my sparrow eye I was able to trace it down here. More blessings from this end join more contests, Okay!**

Thanks for your comment... I always gather momentum from it; you're always idealistic on a very serious note, just hoping to get to that cloud you're operating from... I should write on "the sparrow eye", I salute your doggedness, you're really a goal-getter, you'll strive in the agro sector and I'll be willing to invest in such venture when given the opportunity. The silent boss...

Am sure your cultivation went huge and your crops are doing well. It's good to see that you engage in farming activity and your plants are doing well.

For the Governor of my state to declare 2 days in a month for civil servants to visit their farms would tell how important farming is in terms of food security. No matter the money I make I won't stop engaging in farming activities, though I may get other hands if such need arises. Thanks @emmaboy23 for your feedback, I really appreciate it.
