Steem4nigeria Accelerator Contest Week 130: In the Midst of Crisis!

Imagine a person inside a bus and the traffic have hold everybody , sun shining down so hot, conductor shouting for people to enter with thier change. Suddenly, one big truck which is in the front hold a brake, everybody inside the bus scatter, some fall, some shout, some even cry. That's crisis. But, inside that same confusion, one small boy which is selling gala and pure water rush in to help one woman that fell. He didn't even think of money at that time, it's human life that really matters most to him.

However for me, “in the midst of crisis” can simply mean when life comes with problem which I didn't expect or plan for it. Therefore it can be just financial problems , like when landlord knock at the door and my salary never enter to pay the house rent. It can be emotional, like heartbreak which will pain and hurt me than malaria and typhoid. It can also be academic, like when exam is tomorrow and you never even open your book to read because of unexpected incidents that took your time.

In other way “In the midst of crisis” is that moment which everything scatter, you are confused, you fear, but you still need to stand. It's just like when rain is falling so heavily and everywhere is really flooded, but you will still need to walk to where you are going at that particular moment. So Crisis is a test of patience, test of faith, and test of character.

The first thing which I do is to calm down. Because if i panic, I will make mistake which will worsen the problem. For example, when was in school, one time exam was the next day and I never read. My first instinct was to panic, but I tell myself that panic won't add mark to my paper. I calm down, plan myself, and focus on the key topics.

For financial crisis, I first check what I can cut off at the moment. If there's no money, I will reduce unnecessary spending. If it's emotional crisis, I will talk to a person which I trust, because sometimes sharing can lighten the burden.

So my handling style is:

• Calm down first.

• Think of solution which is realistic.

• Pray.

• Then act fast before the crisis swallow me.

Yes it does the both. Crisis can break a person if the person don't have support or resilience. For example, some people that lose job, they will just give up, depression will hold them. But for others, it's that same job loss that can push them to start business that will pay later.

So I believe that crisis are just like fire. If you put iron inside fire, it will be strong. If you put plastic, it will melt. Crisis shows who you are. Personally, I believe that crisis makes people stronger if they face them with courage. Because it's inside a problem you will discover a strength which you didn't even know that you have.

Honestly,one big lesson which I learnt so far is that crisis helps a person. It's reminds that life is not always smooth. Another lesson is that crisis teaches how to value people. That time I had nearly failed my exams, it was my friend that sat beside me overnight, which helps me understands the key topics. No doubt I can say that Without him, I would have failed that time.

So today, I'm carrying that lesson everywhere:

• I don't look down on anybody, because you don't know who will help you tomorrow.

• I'm always prepared , because crisis comes without notice

• I always appreciates resilience, because that's the only way to survive in this present economy which crisis comes almost every day.

In all “In the midst of crisis” it's a phrase that surely carries deep meaning. It's doesn't means just problem it means a test of who you are. However Crisis do comes like a thief, but it's your reaction that will determine whether you will survive or break. For me, I learned thats crisis shapes a person,makes you stronger, and teaches you lessons that no text book can ever teach.
