Hello, my fellow steemians, I hope you all are doing okay
I am here to share my joy with everyone here.
This month has really been a blessing, and I am thankful to God for keeping me alive to this day.

On this day, we decided to host a little get-together to bring friends and loved ones together, since we haven't really seen each other in a while. As we all know, in every gathering, it is appropriate to set aside entertainment (food) to keep the love and unity going. A loving family was about to relocate to a different location, and we would not see them again. We decided to host a last get-together for everyone so we could see and be with them one last time before they go.
It is sad to always lose one of your own, but change is something we cannot always choose for ourselves.

For this day, we decided to prepare a few types of dishes for everyone.
We wrote out a list and decided to prepare 4 types of dishes: plantain porridge, fried rice, coconut rice, and white soup.

The preparation was quite hectic, and it demanded many hands. We first started with slaughtering the goat meat and burning it, then chopping it into tiny pieces to be steamed. Then chicken was killed and chopped into pieces and also steamed separately to serve as meat for the food.

Plantain Porridge

For the plantain, it was peeled, then boiled, and then mixed with Isi Ewu. Isi Ewu refers to goat's head soup or spiced goat's head and is a traditional Igbo dish from Eastern Nigeria. This Isi Ewu was then mixed with the plantain to prepare the plantain porridge.

Jollof Rice

Then we went on to parboiling the rice in a big pot using firewood. Then we sieved the rice to wash away the starch. Then came the preparation of the Jollof rice. The necessary ingredients were put in place: the thyme, curry powder, carrot, green beans, and other ingredients. Below is the outcome of the food after it was prepared.

Coconut Rice

Another pot of rice was set on fire for boiling and then parboiled to prepare the coconut rice. The coconut was then grated smoothly and sieved with warm water. The warm water (the juice) was used in preparing the coconut rice. Below is a photo of the graded coconut

White Soup

The white soup was the last food to be prepared because it needed thorough and careful preparation. White soup is commonly known as Ofe Nsala (Igbo version) or Afia Efere (Efik/Ibibio version). Its reason for being called "white" is because it does not use palm oil like everyother soup. I helped in preparing the ingredients for this soup as well as what it would be served with—pounded yam. Yam served as a soup thickener for the soup. It was pounded smoothly and then added into the soup. Below is the outcome of the meal.

It was a massive event today; many hands came around to help in preparing the different delicacies. We started preparing from 8:00 am, and everything was ready by 2:00 pm. People came around and ate to their satisfaction. It was a moment to love and bond with one another. We kept the event going till evening. We played games and danced to different types of music; we also took pictures and drank and ate till evening.

The occasion was a very successful one, and I thank God for seeing us through the day. I hope and pray that they stay safe in their new home and find peace in it. Below is a lovely photo of this beloved family.

Hello friend. Saying goodbye is never easy, especially when it's to a lovely family who's moving away and who were once part of the community.

In your post, you described all the love you showed this important family as they left the neighborhood. Everyone came together to organize a big send-off, with food and fun activities to remember the Edijala family.

I enjoyed reading your post and seeing that kind and thoughtful gesture of support for those who are saying goodbye today as they move to a new place.

Best of luck.

Thank you sir
