The Diary Game || POST-ANTENATAL DUTIES AND OTHER EXPERIENCES || 03/03/2026

Still a happy new month, greetings to you all. The joy is still fresh in our hearts for the gift of the newborn baby. Calls, goodwill messages, text, and visitations from friends and members of both families are coming daily.

In the midst of all the celebrations, my wife is working on recovery and seeing how fast breast milk can flow well for the baby as she's planning exclusively (breastfeeding the baby for six months) without food and water. Hot water for her every day, no more normal food for the time being.

On the other hand, I have been appointed the senior manager of kitchen, domestic duties, and social welfare. No one else to do the cooking, markets, washing of both dishes and clothes. I am officially in charge, and I must discharge my duties without failure or disappointment.

In the morning, I was awake by 3am, at the point of brainstorming with cooking, the preparation and school runs, sleep departed from my eyes so that I could think clearly. At exactly 5am, I observed a quiet time without calling my wife. I prayed and laid my hand on them. I quickly stepped out from the bed and paid a frightening visit to the kitchen where dishes were waiting for my responsibility. However, boiling water for the baby and the mother was where to start from before preparing my first son for school. I had to pack all the dishes outside to wash them.

After washing all the dishes, I prepared pepper soup yam for my wife.

About 7:35 am, the school bus came and picked up my son while I continued looking after my wife. I used hot water and a towel to massage her swollen legs and waist and ensured she had a sound sleep.

Amongst other items we bought, it was time to use the baby bathtub that we were given during our marriage. There were two of them which our first son had used: the first one, vacuum flask, and the baby bank. I brought out the bath and removed the wrapping paper for proper washing.

The baby was taken care of by an experienced old woman, and the placenta robed with sort of liquid to make it remove fast. The baby was now resting and having a long time of sleeping after breastfeeding for a few minutes.

I had to prepare soup for the whole, my favorite mkpafere and achi. It was nice that we ate with prejudice.

Even though you're satisfied, you keep eating for the sumptuousness of the delicacy. It's now that everyone can confirm that I can handle kitchen duties comfortably and satisfactorily. My wife always appreciates the efforts since her pregnancy became heavier than she could do other things. Rest became necessary, and as such, I had to give it to every woman. Their system is different from the men. So strong during and after the pregnancy they are through a lot.

In the Afternoon, about 2:30pm, I went and picked up my son from school and then about 4:28pm, I had to go to Atiku Abubakar Road for my clothes from the Destiny Clothing Global Fashion Limited.

Post antenatal to the women is another stage that men and people around should take seriously. Many do have a successful delivery but still die out of carelessness. This recovery stage is as painful as the time of labour, especially if you're using traditional recovery processes, which some require much of hot water for virtually everything.
