Hello Students, welcome back to this space, am super happy to have y'all back here again this week. I must confess that I am happy about the feedback am getting from the teachings. Something interesting happened in the course of the week, you know out of the blues, I got a notification from one of my students who took the lesson a step further...

She went ahead to print out her own logo design on a tote bag...she learnt about Logo design and loved her result after attempting the homework task and this triggered her to go for a print. I would be sharing the link to her post and would equally share the image of tote bag here with us all.

In this week's homework task, you're free to use any design app/software of your choice. I understand that this has been the limitation for some. The goal of choosing Canva is to allow for versatility and not to have you boxed with whatever tool you're good at.

I started out with Photoshop and branched into mobile design like Canva, now I can boast of using two design tool proficiently...I will also be exploring pixellab someday. I've come to a conclusion that mobile design tools are more flexible when compared to softwares that runs on computers.

The past few weeks have been all about branding. We touch a very significant part which is logo design. We were also asked to come up with flyer design to promote our brands but the designs I've been getting lately are not so cool due to lack of knowledge and understanding so I decided to give a specimen design...and of course I chose to make this simple sample design for this dear student @adylinah, just to encourage her and set the existing brand on motion. I hope she finds this design useful. Let's get right into the design guys!

Practical Demonstration of a business/brand promotional flyers

• Step 1: I launched my canva and set up my workspace, I decided to use a gradient this time just as seen and then chose my colours.

• Step 2: The result of the background gradient is as seen. I then proceeded to add an additional image from my gallery to my background to give it an effect.

• Step 3: The chosen image is as seen, I had to adjust it to fit in and then use the transparency option to reduce it visibility. I set it to 3%

• Step 4: I clicked on the "Element" option to bring in a square shape needed for my design.

• Step 5: I resized the square shape by enlarging it and then positioning it below just as seen. You might need to use the position tool to ensure your shape is above the background just as seen. Afterwards, I went to my gallery to pick my model image whose background has already been removed.

• Step 6: As you can see my model image is set. I then went to my "Element" option again to get my frame just as seen. You can also use the search button.

• Step 7: I resized my frame and duplicated it into four.I brought into this frame my other model picture using the replace option.

• Step 8: I introduced my text and also the logo of the brand am designing for and then resized to taste. You can also sight a curved rectangle on which I placed my "Beauty Saloon". I got it from the "Element" section too.

• Step 9: I added other relevant information like "Our services" and then I proceeded to add contacts to it using the call and whatsapp icon with the contact number attracted to it.
Finally I deemed it fit to add a promo discount to lure customers.

Homework Task

• Design A logo for your brand, if you already have one, this would be optional for you.

• Design a promotional flyer/banner/poster for your brand using any design app/software of your choice. Kindly be sure to be very detailed, showing every relevant detail as this could be your leverage.

• Dedicate a section to talk about the graphics design principles engaged in making your design. You might want to revisit the lecture on graphic design principles to refresh your memory.

• Once again use a suitable mockup to promote your design.
