Identify one everyday problem in your community or country and explain some steps in solving them.

A very serious but little understood daily problem in our society is the unemployment and waste of skills of educated youth. This problem is not limited to not getting a job but has taken the form of a complete mental and social crisis. Today's youth is stumbling around with a degree in hand. But his education has not been made capable of proving himself in practical life.
The root of this problem lies in our education system. Where marks are given more importance than ability and rote learning than skills. Even after sixteen years of education a student does not know what he can do practically. For example a graduate who studies economics for years cannot even calculate his personal income properly let alone make a budget.
The first practical step to solve this problem is to link education with skills. Instead of just theoretical education at the university and college level internships projects and field work should be made mandatory. So that the student can face the real world.
The second important step is to instill the mindset of self employment among the youth. In our country jobs are considered as success and entrepreneurship as a threat. If young people are taught small scale entrepreneurship freelancing and digital skills. They can create opportunities for themselves instead of depending on others.
The third step is guidance and career counseling. Most students do not know in which field their potential can be best utilized. If they get the right guidance at the right time. They can avoid wasting years in the wrong direction.
Finally society has to understand that unemployed youth are not lazy but victims of a flawed system. When we recognize the hard work of the youth. Believe in their potential and give them practical opportunities only then will this problem move towards a solution.

Why do you think this problem still exists despite many people noticing it?

Unemployment among educated youth still exists today. Because we have only noticed the problem not gotten to the root of it. Everyone agrees that youth are unemployed. But no one asks why? We acknowledge the problem but avoid taking responsibility for it.
The biggest reason for this problem is the gap between education and practical life. Our educational institutions are still following a curriculum that is many years old. The world has moved forward but our students are still stuck in rote learning and theory. The result is that when a young person steps into the market. They are told: “You have a degree but no skills.”
The second big reason is social pressure and limited thinking. In our society success is considered to mean only a government or big private job. If a young person thinks of business freelancing or any other path. They are immediately told “This is all useless find a job.” Because of this thinking, the young person gives up before trying their skills.
The third reason is lack of guidance. Most students do not know what paths are open to them after their education. There is no career guidance in school nor in college. The youth keeps shooting in the dark and time is wasted.
Another reason for the existence of this problem is that we absolve ourselves of responsibility by considering it the government's problem. However this problem cannot be solved. Unless educational institutions parents teachers and the youth themselves all accept their own responsibility.

In your opinion, what is the most misunderstood part of this problem?

Guys the most Misjudged aspect of this issue is that. Unemployed youth are considered incompetent or lazy. The common perception is that if someone is not getting a job. Then there must be something lacking in them. However the reality is quite the opposite.
Today's youth is more educated informed and hardworking than ever before. But they do not have the opportunities that are in line with their capabilities. For example a young person remains unemployed for months even after completing a degree in computer science. Because he has not been given the practical experience that the industry demands. In such a situation it is completely unfair to call him lazy.
Another misconception is that just a degree is enough. People think that a job will come by itself as soon as they complete their education. Due to this thinking neither institutions teach skills nor do students themselves worry about learning additional skills. When the reality comes out disappointment spreads.
People also think that unemployment is only an economic problem although it is also a mental and psychological problem. Constant failure breaks the confidence of a young person. He begins to see himself as a burden on society. which is a dangerous situation.
The real problem is not the youth. But the system that claims to develop them but in reality leaves them incomplete. Until we come out of this misconception. We will continue to blame instead of solving the problem.

If you could change one mindset related to this issue, what would it be?

If I could change one thought about this issue. It would be that there is no single path to success. In our society success is not a specific goal. And if a society respects every legitimate effort then the youth will also adopt new paths without fear.
The second thought that needs to be changed is that failure is not sham it is a learning stage. Today the youth does not take risks because they are afraid of failing. If we teach them to consider failure as an experienc. The youth will become more confident.
I would also like to change the thought that the youth has to depend on others in all situations. We have to develop the habit of self reliance problem-solving and self learning. When the youth believes in his ability no matter what the circumstances are he will find a way out.
Finally the most important thing is that we have to consider the youth not as a problem but as a part of the solution. The day this thought change the same day this problem will gradually start disappearing.

This is really a very important and insightful post. You have very well described youth unemployment and the practical gap in education. In today's era, education is limited to only theoretical knowledge, while lack of practical skills is the biggest obstacle for the youth. I also believe that career guidance and inculcating self-reliance mindset is very important to enable the youth to create opportunities for themselves. Your post is a thought provoking message for both youth and society.

Thank you for your kind words and for sharing your thoughts. I couldn't agree more that practical skills and career guidance are crucial for the youth. It's heartening to know that you found the post thought provoking. Once again I thank you and may you always be happy and prosperous.
