Identify one everyday problem in your community or country and explain some steps in solving them.

A major daily problem of our society or country is the lack of healthcare. Although healthcare is a fundamental right of a person, many people in our country are deprived of this service. Especially the poor people of our country and the people of the villages are deprived of healthcare due to the lack of good hospitals, good doctors, and necessary medicines. Many people die every year due to a lack of proper treatment for complex diseases. Due to the lack of good healthcare, they do not receive medical care. I have understood the problem of healthcare from the example of my relatives in my village. I have brought many relatives from my village to our country's capital, Dhaka, and helped them with medical care, which they did not receive in their villages.

In many government hospitals, the number of doctors and nurses is less than the number of patients. As a result, patients have to stand in long lines for medical services or adequate tests. In private hospitals, the cost of treatment is much higher, so patients slowly die by relying on incompetent doctors or street vendors. Especially with the increase in the population of our country, the rate of deprivation of healthcare has increased.

I have mentioned a few things below to solve the healthcare problem.

  • It is necessary to establish a government-run hospital in every district and upazila of our country to provide modern medical services. Then the people of the villages will come to the capital and get rid of the complications like medical services.
  • The number of doctors and nurses must be increased, and adequate training provided to them.
  • Free medical services should be provided for the poor through government initiatives. Adequate and necessary equipment for testing and inspection should be provided free of cost.
  • Highly trained doctors should be sent to provide medical services in village hospitals.
  • Awareness programs should be conducted in the villages regarding healthcare. Arrangements should be made to inform the villagers about various types of vaccinations or diseases.

Why do you think this problem still exists despite many people noticing it?

I have mentioned below some of the reasons why the problem of lack of healthcare for people persists despite the fact that it has come to the attention of many people.

  • Corruption and mismanagement are the biggest problems in our country due to a lack of healthcare. Due to corruption in the allocation of medical expenses in rural areas, medical services are not developed. Due to mismanagement of the allocated money by political or government office holders, there is no development in this sector.
  • Due to a lack of skilled manpower, people in rural and remote areas are deprived of health service development. Testing equipment is not used in medical services due to a lack of skilled manpower. As a result, rural people are deprived of medical services despite knowing it.
  • Highly trained doctors and nurses do not want to go to village hospitals to provide medical services in city hospitals. Therefore, despite everyone knowing it, the people of the villages suffer from a lack of healthcare.
  • Due to poverty and economic problems, many villagers do not come to hospitals for treatment. Due to not seeking medical care in the beginning, the patient's condition became complicated.

In your opinion, what is the most misunderstood part of this problem?

The biggest misconception is the lack of healthcare in our country. Despite the construction of hospitals, the testing machines are ineffective due to the lack of trained manpower. The wrong treatment is being given for diagnosing the disease.

People in the village think that medical treatment requires a lot of money, but there are some hospitals in our country that provide good medical services at a low cost.

If you could change one mindset related to this issue, what would it be?

If I want to change a mindset regarding the lack of healthcare, it is to change the idea that "I go to the doctor only when I am sick". People in our country or society go to the doctor when they are very sick. As a result, the effect of the disease on the body increases. Regular physical check-ups, vaccinations, or precautions are necessary before getting sick. I want people to change this idea and consult a doctor before getting sick or seeing the initial symptoms, and increase their immunity by being clean.

A hospital's worst failure is prioritizing administrative completeness over responding quickly to patients. Poor service is not only a lack of facilities, but also the unresponsive quality of individual staff and the low educational qualifications of doctors, because the essence of service is prioritizing patient safety over the administrative obligations of receiving medical care.

I agree with your ideas! And, one of the obstacles to fulfilling patient rights is the maintenance of bureaucratic corruption, this a serious obstacle in almost all public service institutions.

Be Success, sir @mahadisalim 🙏

¡Holaaa amigo!🤗

Hi @mahadisalim, welcome to thinking and ideas week 3

My Observations:

I understand the plight, healthcare is a serious business because no one can survive without a good health. I know we have healthcares all over the cities, but their maintenance and provisions of some necessary requirements is a big deal.

Your ideas are worth important...
