SLC-S29/W1-“Thinking and Ideas!| If You Were in Charge!

Leadership or power, as attractive as the word sounds, is much more responsible than that, do you know? But if I were given full authority or power over my country for a year, I would not consider myself a king or a ruler. Rather, I would consider myself a reformer, with very little time on my hands but a lot of work. One year is not much time for a radical change in a country, but it is enough to sow the right seeds. Friends, today I will share my plans and some difficult decisionsover the past year.

The first problem I will solve

The first thing I will tackle after getting power is to eliminate unemployment and make the education system skill-based.

There are millions of educated youth in our country who have big degrees in their hands but no jobs in their pockets. The main reason for this is that our education system is only producing certificates, not skilled workers. So my first task will be to reduce the importance of traditional rote-based education and introduce work-oriented education. I will introduce a system where every student will have to learn at least one technical or IT skill (such as coding, agricultural technology, automobile or freelancing) along with his studies. Within a year, I will set up modern training centres in every district and ensure that a student can stand on their own feet before completing their studies.

Why did I choose this one over all other problems?

Many may wonder, why did I choose unemployment and education when there are problems like corruption, roads or health in the country? The answer is very simple: economic freedom.

When the youth of a country are unemployed, then crime increases, despair increases, and the wheels of the economy slow down in that country. Even if you wrap the roads with gold, but people do not have rice in their stomachs or the youth do not have work, then that development is meaningless. I believe that if I can give work to the youth and transform them into skilled manpower, then the other problems (like crime or poverty) will automatically reduce. Youth power is the backbone of a country, and strengthening this backbone will be my first and foremost task.

A difficult decision that I have to make

When it comes to leadership, it is not possible to please everyone. I have to make a decision that a large section of the country may not want to accept at first. My tough decision will be to reduce government job recruitment and divert the entire fund to create entrepreneurs and stop government subsidy for higher education in unnecessary general subjects."

It may sound very cruel, doesn't it? But currently in our country, everyone is wasting the best time of their lives chasing BCS or government jobs. I want to break this illusion. I will announce that, except for certain urgent sectors, general government job recruitment will be limited for one year. Instead, I will give those thousands of crores of taka as loans on easy terms to those who want to become entrepreneurs or want to do something new in agriculture and technology. I don't want the youth to chase a job; I want them to create jobs. Implementing this will be very stressful for me mentally, because millions of candidates will oppose it.

How will I convince the opponents?

Naturally, my decision will cause intense anger among the student community and parents. They may even take to the streets and protest. I will explain to them very simply and truthfully.

I will address the nation, I will say, "Brothers and sisters, I have not come to give you false assurances for your temporary happiness. If I give you all government jobs today, after the next 10 years, the country will go bankrupt because our production is not increasing at all. But if you accept this tough decision of mine today and develop yourselves and become entrepreneurs, then after the next 5 years, you will no longer have to go to anyone's door for a job. I do not want to hand you a fish, I want to teach you how to fish - so that you can take responsibility for yourself and your family throughout your life. This medicine is bitter, but this is the only way to cure illness."

I believe that if people speak with reason and honesty, they will understand the long-term benefits,s even if it is a temporary hardship. I may not be in power after a year, but I want to leave behind a system where people will respect skills more than degrees. My goal is not to enjoy power, but to bring a positive change in the thinking of the people of the country. If the mentality can be changed, it does not take time to change the country.

May be you would be a real reformer.

Hi @mamun123456, welcome to thinking and ideas week 1

My Observation:

I noticed your idea has been shared by a user already. The education sector is a place to look into bookcase it is gradually failing.

I wish you all the best!
