SC-S31/W4-Movie Magic | Movies That Challenge Society (Article 15)
Hello everyone!

Today I am here to participate in the movie magic challenge which specifically focuses on the movies that challenge the society. For this challenge I have chosen the Bollywood movie Article 15. This is a powerful movie inspired by the real social life issues in India.
This movie left a strong emotional effect on me. Because this movie shows how discrimination and injustice can become very normal in the society. The situation becomes worse that the people stop questioning that injustice in the society. Article 15 is not just a crime thriller. It is a movie that forces viewers to think about humanity. It focuses on the equality and the reality of the society. Many people face the cruelty in the society.
What social issue did the movie highlight?
This movie mainly highlights the issue of caste discrimination and social injustice. This thing is very common in India. In the film people from the lower castes are treated badly. They are treated disrespectfully. They are denied basic human rights. The reason is that those people belong to a lower class family.

The story revolves around the disappearance and murder of the young girls from the poor families. The investigation shows the painful truth about the worst discrimination in the society.
This makes the movie more powerful as it openly shows the difference between the privileged and underprivileged people. Some people believe that he discrimination was normal. Because this has existed for the generations. This made the injustice even more disturbing.
This movie also highlights corruption. It shows the abuse of power. It reveals the silence of the society when injustice happens to the lower class families. Instead of protecting the victims the people in authority try to hide the truth. They protect their own statues and interest.
Did it change how you see this issue?
Yes this movie has definitely changed the way I look at this issue. Before watching Article 15 I knew that discrimination existed in different parts of the world. But the movie helped me understand how such routines and systems impact the lives of the people. It showed that injustice is not always loud or visible. Sometimes this becomes apart of life. People suffer silently for years because of this injustice.

The movie made me realize the importance of the awareness and empathy in the society. Many privileged people may never experience such discrimination. They fail to understand the pain of those people who face this problem in their daily lives. I watched the struggles of the victims in the movie. It reflected me the unfairness of the society. People are judged on the basis of their class, caste, race, and the background. Their character is not considered but their other aspects.
It also made me to appreciate the importance of speaking against the injustice rather than ignoring it. The silence in the society allows the harmful systems to continue.
How is this theme discussed this week relevant today?
This theme is still highly relevant today. Because discrimination and injustice continue t exist in many parts of the world.
Even today people face this problem of unfair treatment. It is just because of their social status and mostly the financial conditions. In many places in the world the powerful people still misuse their authority. But the poor and needy people struggle to get justice. Social media and news continuously remind us that the inequality is a major issue in the modern world as well.
The message of the movie is especially relevant because it encourages the people to question harmful traditions. It forces the people to question about the unfair systems instead of accepting them.

Sometimes the society threats those people who challenge the injustice. But the real change can only happen when people have the courage to speak up.
Another reason this theme remains important for today is because the young generations are becoming more aware about the human rights. They are becoming aware about the equality and social justice by watching similar movies which have great lesson.
The movies like Article 15 help to create awareness and conversation to bring positive change in the society. It encourages people to think differently.
Conclusion
In conclusion we can say that Article 15 is a powerful movie. It challenges the society the exposing the injustice and abuse of power. It reminds that every human being deserves equal respect irrespective of the colour or creed.
The movies teaches us hat remaining silent before the injustice make it more strong. Real change happens when people question the unfair system.
This movie was emotional and thought provoking. It is highly relevant to the current society. It is definitely one of the most effective movies regarding the social injustice.
