Hello everyone. It's the week 2 of the season 2 of the steemit engagement challenge. Week 1 was glorious, although I couldn't participate very well, because that week was a busy week for me. This week, my first participation will be in the steem4nigeria community.
We have been asked to "Tell why we prefer our country to any other country". So, I will be answering this question. I hope you follow me closely and read it to the end.
Tell us why you prefer your country to any other country
In this post, I'm going to be telling you a little bit about my country, Nigeria, why I prefer my country to any other country, and why I will come back to Nigeria even when I have opportunity to travel abroad. Let's get started.
A little Introduction about Nigeria
Nigeria is an African country. It's one of the most popular countries in Africa. It's believed that Nigeria is the giant of Africa because of her popularity and resources.
It's located in the west of the African continent. It shares boarder with four nations: Benin, Cameroon, Chad and Niger. Nigeria has 36 states, including Federal Capital Territory.

The population of people living in the country is about 216 Million according to the Worldometer of the Elaboration of the United Nation Data.
Although there are about 371 ethnic group living in Nigeria, but Hausa, Yoruba and Igbo are the predominant. All other tribes or ethnic groups are very small and hence, they seem negligible.
The official language of Nigeria is English. That's why the medium of communication in schools is English. Nigerians speak British English because they were colonized by Britain and these people were the ones that taught them English until she gained her independence in October 1st 1960.
What Interests me About My Country
There is a lots of things that interest me about my country. I will like to share few with you.
Climate and Weather
Nigeria 's climate and weather is one of the best in the world. I have seen many foreigners come to Nigeria and admire our climate. Because of our good climate, agriculture or farming is encouraged in almost every part of the nation.
Since our climate and weather are very good and support farming, mostly many crops can do well in the soil. Then, there are some crops that do well in the Southwest of Nigeria, and some in the North... So, this means if a crop can't do well in one part, it will in the other part. This makes agricultural produce to be available throughout the year.

Nigeria is one the popular countries that exports agricultural produce to other countries. For example, Nigeria is one the countries that exports palm oil to the other countries.
Minerals Resources
Another important thing that makes Nigeria great is her mineral resources. Nigeria is blessed with a lots of mineral resources. But she's known for her petroleum or natural gas. In fact, crude oil is the main source of revenue for Nigeria.

Nigeria produces about 2.5 million barrel/day. It's known to be the first producer of petroleum in the whole of Africa and sixth in the whole world. Thus, being one of the popular producers of petroleum in the world, she exports petroleum to the other nations.
Culture
Even though there many ethnic tribes in Nigeria, our culture is one of the best cultures in the world. For example, Yoruba believe that, young people should respect the elders when they want to greet them. If it's a male that wants to greet an elderly person, he must prostrate. And if it's a female that wants to greet an elderly person, she must knee down.
Then, also young people must not call their elders name. It's not right. They must respect them even when calling them. In addition, when elders are talking, the young ones must be watching if at all they permit them to hear their discussion.
Tourist Center
Tourist centers are also one of the things I like about my countries. There are many tourist center in Nigeria. Last week, I explained about Erin Ijesha Water Fall. It's one of the popular tourist centers in Nigeria.
Foreigners have come to Nigeria to visit the tourist centers and to learn about one thing or the other.
Which of the things mentioned above do you prefer your country for, over other countries?
In all I have mentioned above, I prefer Nigeria culture to any other culture in the world, especially Yoruba culture. I have seen and heard about different cultures, but to me, Yoruba culture is one of the best cultures.
There's respect in yoruba culture. Nigeria dress shows dignity. Although, these days, it seems that people are now adopting different cultures, but Nigeria culture is still the best.
I heard a case of a Nigerian who went to US for his Master degree. When he saw his supervisor, he prostrated and greeted him. But the supervisor was surprised because none of his students has ever done that. The supervisor was embarrassed...
When he was asked why he prostrated for him, he told the supervisor that it's a sign of respect. Then he was like "wow".. He liked the culture. So, Nigeria culture is one of the best cultures in the world and I so prefer it, especially Yoruba culture to any other culture.
If you eventually leave your country in search of greener pastures, would you be willing to come back because of your response in (3)
Yes! I will definitely come back. I can't abandon my country. If I travel, as I'm planning to, I will make sure I come back to contribute to the development of my country.
There are many things why I can't abandon my country, Nigeria. Firstly, There's a saying in yoruba language that says "ajo o le dun, ko da bi Ile", meaning, there's no way to be compared to your homeland.
No matter how much you enjoyable the foreign land is, you still can't compared it with your home. After everything, you will still need to return home. It's only bastard that will forget home. To me, even if I have the opportunity to travel out, to learn or work in a foreign land, I will still come back home.
In addition, I have a family which I can't abandon. Family is everything to us and one must make sure he stays with his family. Nigeria culture is something you can't see anywhere, so I will like to come back for my culture. I will like to come back and see my environment. The good climate and weather.
