It was a day filled with planned activities for me yesterday being 28th November 2025. An announcement was made in our school platform that all teaching staff are to fill out an online attendance form and should endeavour to be present during the workshop. I already planned to travel to Uyo, my former place of residence where our 2025 National Meetup will be holding on the 29th and this travel was going to be with some other steemians. We also needed to buy the drinks we will use for the meetup.

I woke up in the morning, not even knowing the bag to use and pack my stuffs as my kids have hijacked the backpack I usually travel with. Confused, I reluctantly filled the attendance form for the workshop. Yea, I was supposed to filled it out a day before but I was not able due to network glitches. I knew I was late already but I still had to fill it out. Meanwhile, the workshop was scheduled to begin by 10am. I took my time to get ready because I was to move out at the same time. I packed my bag, ate and left by 9am.

I got to the school by 10.11 am and after dropping my bag in my office, I rushed to the Auditorium which is the venue for the workshop. African time still delayed the workshop. I went in and located a suitable seat for myself and my colleague. Ev

By 10.30 am, we were asked to go outside and sign in after checking up our list on the list that was sent in our group. I opened and checked, my name wasn't there anyways. I enquired and I was told that it was because I filled out this morning. I was told to wait for the updated list. Later, I was able to sign in and I was given a file jacket that contains a jotter, writing pen, and a tag.

The workshop letter began by 10.40 am with the introduction of the dignitaries that were present. The organizer from the research department, the Deputy Rector administration who also represented the Rector because he wasn't around, then the presenters who came from Akwaibom and from Lagos. And others were introduced too.

The event began with prayers, then the National Anthem for Nigeria, for Abia State and for the Polytechnic were sang. There was an opening remarks by the host, followed by the declaration of the even open by the Deputy Rector and the the workshop began in Ernest by the 2 presenters. They spoke extensively on how what a high impact research writing is, how to go about it, what parameters to follow when beginning, success stories and how we can start as beginners.

Each of the presenters were were given 45 minutes to present and they spent more than an hour. But it was worthwhile because they really suit what we need as teaching staff.

Shopping and traveling

It was already past 2 pm when we dismissed and @xkool24 and @kinkyamee was also already packed across the road waiting for us to zoom off. We planned travelling by 12 noon but looks at when we finished. I quickly went to my office and took my bag, then I joined them. We stopped at the market Square there to buy the drinks we are going to use for the meetup. We bought malt drink, cream wine, red wine, and water. The red wine was paid for by Xkool24 and water was donated by Kinkyamiee. Then we drove out and began our journey to the meetup state

T-shirt distribution

We arrived and located our lodging hotel. Each person took care of their hotel bill but I was privileged to be given free room because the owner of the hotel is my fitness group chairman. He accommodated me free. I immediately left after checking in to where I had told the t-shirt vendor to drop it for me. I also announced to my fellow steemians that they can come and pick their t-shirts up. I waited there and @alli001 and @kidi40 came around and picked theirs. They also picked for some who told them to pick on their behalf

during the distribution of the t-shirts

I was there till around 7pm when xkool24 came out to meet me there. He accompanied me to go look for what to eat and letter, we went back to retire for the day.

I then ate, freshened up and slept off. It was in deed a very busy day for me and I am grateful that everything went as planned. The rest of the t-shirts will be delivered at the venue before the meetup begins because I also have a lot of activities to attend to before the meetup.
