"SC-S28/W6-Movie Highlights|"Feel-Good Finale" ( Love at the gate)

I had come across the reel for this film some days ago on YouTube while scrolling through, but I felt it was one of those cheesy love stories so I didn’t watch it( not that I have anything against love stories), but just last night it came up on my timeline again and I decided to see it.
The movie I’m reviewing is titled “ LOVE AT THE GATE”!!

Love at the gate is a recent feel good story that will make you laugh out loud many times though it is littered with lots of lessons. The movie features actors like Clinton Joshua, omeche oko and Josephine Sunday amongst others.

This movie takes us into the quiet and lonely life of Miranda - an elderly wealthy female entrepreneur and her two grown house helps - Dora and Nkechi. These two bicker a lot and don’t seem to see eye to eye except when they want to gossip😂 😂.
When the shenanigans of the gateman become too much-; always caught sleeping on duty, leaving the gate open for unwanted family members to come in and harass the madam (Miranda), who throws them out with the help of the house helps, the gateman is sacked and application form is placed for a new gateman.

Thus we are introduced to kenneth( Kenny), a virile young and handsome man who applies for the position amongst other applicants. Kenny is on the quest to find his mother and his search has led him to Miranda’s house. In order to get to know her better and have a possible chance at reunion with her, he decides to disguise as a gateman and work for her.
As soon as the house helps set their eyes on Kenny, a whole new dimension of trouble and comedic scheming starts - both seeking for Kenny’s attention and the chance to be his girlfriend.

• Will Kenneth be able to achieve his goal while serenaded by the “antics of these bautiful househelps???

What moment in the movie made you smile or laugh the most?

A lot of scenes in this movie made me laugh the most .I’ll share a few;

This is the scene where Dr Jide, Miranda’s doctor who is in love with her walks in on Kenny and Miranda hugging. He misunderstands the scene and goes into a frenzy, with a distorted face and puts up a fight. After he is cleared up, he quickly proposes love to Miranda in the most dramatic way ever😂😂😂.

• The next scene was when the two house helps each took food to Kenny, at the same time. The sheer look of confusion on the young man’s face and the drama that ensued between them was a laugh worthy moment.

Kenny finally thinks up a hilarious way to please both women!!

What made the film feel comforting, joyful, or hopeful?

The characters used in the film made it hopeful, especially as i watched with bathed breathe to see how the reunion between mother and son would happen.
Plus the comedic infusions here and there!!

Would you recommend this movie to a friend who’s feeling down?

A 100% I would. This movie is good for the soul.

How did this movie improve your mood or perspective?

Well, I’m someone that can predict where most movies are going to and how they would end, but I didn’t see this end coming. It improved my mood by making me laugh a lot. I had felt a bit bored before watching the movie, but as soon as I started seeing it, I was all smiles.

Also, I saw that things could be done in another way. I had suspected Dr Jide of being the one who hacked into Miranda’s files and thought his hysteria was a result of his plans not going the way he wanted, but the end of the movie gave me a different perspective to all these.
