Steem4nigeria Accelerator Contest Week 128: The Most Important Person in my Life: My mother
We all have that special person who plays a very crucial role in our life. Some persons might tell you it's their role model, best friend, siblings or even their God, father or mother. That very important person in my life is my mother. My mother was that one person I could truly confide in, the one who encourages me and always understanding, not until the cold hands of death took her away from us in April 2018. A year and month I can't forget in a hurry.
I will always remember my mother as a woman full of love, strength, a woman of peace and God fearing. A woman who sacrificed everything for me and my siblings to ensure we all had a better life. Even in the midst of challenges, she never gives up. How to overcome challenges, putting faith in God was one thing my mother built in us. My mother is such a good listener that I always feel comfortable discussing certain issues with.
Generally, moms are important in the world. Imagine how we all came into existence if not through a woman you call a mother, who took all the pain, stress and discomfort to make sure you were safe from childhood to adulthood, allowing you to express your feelings, taught you how to be self-discipline, teach you right from wrong and so many others. My mother was so important to me for reasons I can't really explain, no words can justify them. She was everything, my world.
Another attribute she had was the willingness to always sacrifice for us, even when it wasn't enough for her. She's a person that believes in every situation life presents, there's always a solution. Staying strong and focused in time of difficulties made her really special. And also she's one person who is always close to God.
There are so many memorable moments we all share as a family. But there was a time in my life, when I was still little, I felt seriously sick that all hope was almost lost, but my mom never gave up. She did all she could do, prayed, and was always at my bedside. My dad was far away at work at that time, though they communicated every day. Surprisingly, after a few days, when I finally woke up, I was happy to find them both smiling at me.
Another memorable moment was this time after my secondary education. I was uncertain about what career to study. Her guidance and encouragement helped me with the right decision. And today I'm happy it all worked out for good.
I learnt a lot of things from my mother that I apply in my everyday life. But let's just talk about this one. My mother will always say, hard work pays, in whatever you do, do it right because nothing good comes easy in life. This really taught me to be disciplined and determined in achieving my goals. My mother is one person that always shows gratitude to any little thing you do for her. I emulated this from her too, showing gratitude to God for life and everyone who has helped me get to where I am.
If I had one chance to say something special to her, it would be words of thanks and appreciation. I know there's no way I can pay her back. But I promise to make her proud by living up to her expectations.
