Helen watched the car was close; she quickly jumped over the road, breathing heavily. Immediately, people gathered to ask her why she could make such mistakes without looking left or right before crossing the highway. Her friend helped her find her way home; on their way, Helen shared a very disturbing story that pushed her to commit suicide in order to end it all. Then I asked in the midst of all crises, is suicide the solution?

What does the phrase “In the midst of crisis” mean to you? Share your understanding in your own words.

This is a situation whereby someone is facing an unbearable condition or a challenging time in someone's life. In other words, this phrase is so common nowadays because of numerous circumstances surrounding us, ranging from finances, emotional trauma, family problems, and many others.

When in the midst of crisis, what do you usually do, like the first thing you do? How do you handle it? (It can be personal, academic, financial, or emotional.)

When I'm in a difficult situation, the first thing I do is run to God; yes, I can't do it alone. We have a women's prayer group where anyone can come in and pray. So this is where I go to share my worries, and the women we pray with me. When I'm facing an emotional crisis, I have an antidote that works faster than any other thing, which is listening to classical music. I find a quiet place and cry out while listening to music.

Do you believe crises make people stronger or weaker? Explain your view.

Crisis can put someone in a devastating mood; I mean, it can make you look helpless, weak, or even strong depending on how you are able to manage it. I have grown to the point that I don't allow any crisis to swallow me or take away my self-esteem; rather, I try my possible best to handle it without it showing on me or making me weak.To some people it can take away their happiness and make them weak, but my final say depends on how it's being handled by people; therefore, I can't generalize if it makes people strong or weak.

What lesson(s) did you learn from that experience, and how has it shaped you today?

There was a time I was depending on my uncle; yes, this uncle of mine is super rich, and he is generous. Living in the same city with him, I was so comfortable because he took responsibility for paying my rent and other bigger bills; hence, my salary then was not enough. At one point my uncle became seriously sick, and I was to stay with him, which means my work would stop when the rent was due. No money to pay, my uncle's health was the main thing at that time; it was a difficult time for me and my family. From the experience I had during this challenging time, it is not good to rely on one person for many responsibilities; it's good for everyone in the family to be up and doing in case of something like this where everyone's help is needed. After my uncle passed away, it was not easy for us, but then we managed to think outside the box. Today the story is different. Everybody can boast of his or her own handwork.
