The Diary Game: Attending a Parent -Teacher-Association Meeting of My Children's School (16/3/2026)
Yesterday, Monday, the 16th of March was so hectic for me. It was a day set aside to discuss pupils and students' welfare by the PTA of my children's school. As a parent, I wasn't left out in representing my two kids. As the tension climaxed, due to grievances displayed by parents, the cloud could not hold water any longer. The discussion that nearly turn sour, was mitigated when the new members of executive were elected . Follow me, let me tell you what happened.

Very early in the morning, I woke up to get prepared for work. I didn't have much time at the weekend to wash few clothes I would be wearing for work throughout the new week. So, I had to wash a few clothes and then my children's shoes before I left for work

The PTA meeting was billed to start by 12 noon. I went to work place first. After teaching for four periods, I relaxed and then got ready for the meeting. The meeting took place at the primary school branch which is a stone through from secondary school. On arrival by 11 am, many parents didn't come. We had to wait till attendance improved. Gradually, the house was filled to the brim. The meeting commenced with an opening prayers.

Many issues that affect parents were raised. Chief among them were textbooks to their wards, indiscipline and high school fees charge. The meeting went smoothly at first until when the proprietor tried to defend the attitude of some teachers in flogging the children. A parent, Mr. Udeme, was extremely annoyed. His opinion also sparked other parents to react. The house was in uproar. Some parents questioned the rational behind autocratic nature of the school. According to them, the school didn't partner with them before they increased school fees.
Gradually, the tension was arrested. And peace returned. It was time to elect new executive to pilot the affairs of the association. Election was conducted. I was in charge of votes collation. Six- member exco was elected. It was a successful election.

The meeting took a greater part of my day. I was also not happy on the cleanliness of the school. The school promised to do something. I was tired. The meeting ended with entertainment. We were refreshed. I went back home by 4pm.

When I got home, I had bath, relaxed and then went to the kitchen to prepare supper for my children. By 8pm, I went to bed and slept.
*That was how my yesterday went. It was so engaging and stressful. But I weathered the storm. Thank you so very much for always being there to read my diary. Have a great and fulfilled day"
