“INVISIBLE”
Rain kept dropping on the window as Ada folded herself up on the cold watching still. The city wasn't clear enough even with the lights and shadows. Although from the outside, everything was stil lively. But for Ada from her coner, everything felt too quiet.
She had always been in rooms full of people and in conversations, yet was never seen. It wasn't that she didn't exist but it felt like she wasn't too important to be noticed.
Tonight, the rain was heavy, slow and steady, but it matched the weight in her chest. Ada quietly pulled her knees closer to her body while resting her chin on them as she wondered when she had started feeling this way.
As she kept stirring at the her reflection on the glass, it looked faint like it didn't exist. The dim lights behind her figure blur without been seen as if she were slowly disappearing.
“Invisible!”, she whispered to herself.
Immediately, she noticed something.
A small moving image-like caught her attention. It was a child walking with her mother, who suddenly stopped and looked up. For a while, their eyes met through the blur glass and the child smiled at her. That was real, Ada said!
Ada surprisingly blinked.
Somehow, it felt like a prove to her that maybe she wasn't invisible afterall. Maybe she had been looking for herself where she was never invisible.
Explain what “invisible” represents in your interpretation.
In my interpretation, “Invisible” represents the feeling of being present but not seen.
The girl (Ada) in the image is physically there, sitting by the window, but to her world and surrounding, she is not seen. I would call this, “emotional invisibility”.
Its a state where someone is present but her emotions; thoughts,feelings, struggles goes unnoticed. It shows moments when someone feels overlooked, unimportant or unheard even around the crowd.
My interpretation can also represent “inner isolation”. The outside world is noisy with crowd, while she remains quiet, not separated by walls, but with emotions. This simply shows how loneliness does not mean being all alone but when you lack connection, you are lonely.
But in the same vain, it may mean “finding oneself”. Even in that quiet space away from the bubbling noise, a person can isolate to reflect and understand themselves even better.
So in my interpretation, invisible is a mix of loneliness, silence and the desire to be seen or heard.
Describe the emotion connected to your piece.
The strongest emotion to me is “loneliness”. Loneliness isn't just about being alone, but not seen or heard by others kept her in that position. Ada's sitting posture explains withdrawal, like she has exempted herself from the world.
I could also feel “sadness and heaviness”. The lights, the stillness, the rain drops, all explains a slow and emotional mood of heavy thoughts in her that she cannot even express.
There is “reflection”. She doesn't look stressed but lost in thoughts. Deep thought about her life, ways to get better or her world at large.
If your interpretation had a color or sound, what would it be and why?
If this interpretation had a color, it would be a “soft grey color.”
Grey here symbolizes quiet, not completely dark but not bright either. It represents calmness and emotional weight. From the background, it explains the idea of being invisible and unnoticed. Grey isn't loud, it appears simple, not sad but heavy and quiet.
If this interpretation had sound, it would be the “soft sound of rain drops” tapping on the window.
The sound is gentle but steady. It creates a peaceful but slightly sad atmosphere. It explains the mood of reflection and loneliness in the image where everything appears to be thoughtful. You see, there is separation between the inside and the outside from the rain, which explains the girl feeling separated from the world around her.
