It's time again to talk about “Valentine”. The season we all know to be for love but what type of love does valentine represents? Some people say love is love it doesn't matter, but my dear, love is not love. There are different levels to this love.
What's the best Valentine's gift you've gotten or given, and why did you love it?
I could remember in my secondary school days one hot friday afternoon before school dismissal, I heard some people discussing about valentine, where they would be going after school and the gifts they would be buying for their val.
Just as I was sitting and arranging my stuffs, a young lady walked up to me and said happy val with a wrapped gift in her hand, I was surprised and turned to be sure it was me, well it was me and me alone. I smiled and extended my hands to receive the gift, she hugged me and left.
I was still shocked that maybe I was pranked or something, but I waited till I got home before opening the gift because I didn't know if it was real. When I opened the gift at home, guess what was inside???
Crested necklace and wrist watch with a note. Wow, it was like a film. I read the note over and over again till I slept off with it in my hands. The words written in the note were so heartwarming, that was when hand written notes were moving not now that everyone depends on text message.
I loved and cherished this gift so much because it came from a sincere heart. A pure heart full of love, admiration and care. It was the best and only gift I have received for valentine.
Should Valentine's be just for couples, or should we celebrate it with everyone?
That was why I asked earlier,, what type of love does valentine represent?
For me, valentine's day is a day to show true love. Love of brethren, love of family, friends, the less privilege, the motherless, the beggars etc. It is a day to show love in a different level to people or someone.
Valentine is not specifically for couples, it's not limited, everyone is somebody and only if we have the clear understanding of valentine, that we can celebrate it the appropriate way.
If you could design your perfect Valentine's, what would it look like?
My perfect valentine portrays a picture where I, my wife and kids comes to our street in the morning of 14th February, to share meals, drinks, clothes, footwear, cash and even put roof over some people's head.
It will be a beautiful morning filled with laughter, joy and happiness. Where everyone would be so excited and never wished for that day to end.
A day I would look at myself through the mirror and smile. This has always been my greatest desire to celebrate valentine.
Is Valentine's Day just about money, or can it still be about love?
Valentine's day is beyond money, it is about true love, the type Jesus Christ demonstrated when he came to the earth.
When we tag love to celebrating valentine, it's easier for it flow freely but so many people have different meaning of love and hence, would celebrate val the way they deem fit.
