THE DIARY GAME: 25-12-2025, A Very Simple Christmas

Hello everyone, Merry Christmas to you all!! 😅. May the blessings that comes with the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Most High God be upon us!! 🙏🏽🥹. Once again people, it is with so much joy and pleasure that I welcome you all to today's episode of The Diary Games on my blog!! I call today's edition "The Christmas Edition"!! Sit tight guys and enjoy 😁. So today is Christmas!!! Y'all know what that means right? It's a day to celebrate and make merry as we mark the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!! If I must be honest, I am not the overly religious type though atimes, I do attend church service on Sunday and some programmes as well. So Christmas isn't actually what I celebrate per se because I have always argued that Christ was not born on the 25th of December as popularly believed but who am I to talk?? I just love the vibe of the holidays and the fun that comes with it!! Nothing more!! So guys, Christmas food came early today!! As early as 7am this morning, my two female cousins and elder sister were already up and trying to prepare things so as to make the Christmas stew. Earlier yesterday, my elder sister and one of my cousins had gone to the abatoir (also called slaughter) to buy goat meat for the stew.

The abatoir is a bit close to where we live so buying meat hasn't been that much of a problem ever since we packed down to this new environment. During yesterday's market visit, my sister had bought some goat meat and hides (also called cow skin or pómó). The goat meat and other proteins such as fresh cow hide. The goat meat cow skin (hide) had already been cooked since yesterday. Even the fresh tomatoes was already boiled and blended since yesterday as well. Making the stew was simply a formality. I wasn't involved in today's cooking though as we have a lot of ladies in the house at the moment, hence my services weren't needed in the kitchen. So I woke up, checked at the kitchen and noticed that the ladies were busy with the veggies and other things. I just fetched a cup of water and went outside to brush my teeth. A few minutes later, I could hear the sound of meat being fried in oil! I knew stew was being made!! I refused to eat anything else, be it as an appetizer or whatever, nothing really appealed to me. All I was waiting for was the Christmas rice and stew!! A few minutes later, my cousin Gift who is a registered nurse was done frying the meat and also making the stew. The aroma in the kitchen and within the entire house was nose blinding!!! 😅. So they put the stew down and next thing proceeded to cooking the rice. Our mom asked them to measure 10 cups so that it can easily contain into the big cooking pot we have available. So they did as instructed as the rice was being parboiled. During this time, I was in the parlor seeing an action movie with my dad on the television. It was such a calm and relaxing way to wait for breakfast!! So about one hour and half later, this was almost past 11am, rice was ready. My cousin Gift came into the parlor and asked that I help put the pot of rice down that it was too heavy for them to carry down. So I helped them put it down and even carried the pot of rice inside the kitchen. During big festivals such as today's, we usually do not cook with the cooking gas.

There's a local fireplace behind the house where cooking is done using firewood. Today was so. So immediately i had brought the pot of rice inside, I brought out my plate; a round, spacious flat bowl and placed it on the floor for my mom to dish some food for me. My food will eventually dish some portion into my bowl, adding two pieces of meat as well. I carried my food, went into my room and proceeded to eat. Boy! I was so hungry!! I ate like a lion!! Coupled with the fact that the stew was one of a kind!! It was such a a perfectly prepared stew!! Slightly pepperish than should be; exactly how I like it!! 😅. I'm a lover of pepper so I like spicy meals! Hungry as I was, In no time I was done consuming the food. I was so full that I couldn't even ask for more. So I returned the plate to the kitchen, went into my room, sat up for some minutes before lying down no sleep. I had no where to go today, neither did I even harbour any plans of going out. So I slept since 11:45am after I had finished eating until it was 2pm. I was only awoken by the sound of a person whom I later got to find out was my elder sister's visitor. I then left my room to the parlor and said Hi to the visitor before going back to my room to sleep. By 4pm, I had woken up and found out that the visitor was gone. With low battery and having not had my bath since morning, I poured some water into a bathing bucket and went into the bathroom to shower. After bathing, I got dressed and was set to leave to where I can find electricity so I can charge my phone. While on my way out, my dad brought out a bottle of grape wine which is a gift from the visitor to my dad. I helped my dad open the bottle of wine as we all drink the wine together. After about a glass, I went outside, to Chief's Bar to charge my phone as they usually put ON their generator from 7:30pm till 9:30pm. On getting there, I plugged my phone and went outside to sit. While seated outside, I got bored and decided to stroll around. While strolling, I happened to bumped into my sister who happened to be coming back after walking her guest to where the guest could board a bike to the main road. So on meeting my sister, we both decided to walk back home together. When we got to Chief's bar, I and my sister decided to sit in a corner around the bar instead of going home straight. So while we both sat there chatting, my phone was charging as well.

We sat there for over an hour. It was at about 9:15am that we decided to leave. So I went into the Main Bar building and unplugged my phone and we proceeded to go home. On getting home, I felt a bit hungry again and so I convinced my elder sister to use her influence to dish out some food for us to eat, stressing the fact that today is a day of celebration!! My sister agreed and she went and dished out some food from the pot into a bowl and we ate together. After eating, my mom offered me some tablets to take. She called them multivites and said they medication will help boost my appetite and build me up as well since I have been on antibiotics lately. So after taking the medication, I went into my room and was getting ready to sleep. While waiting for sleep to come, I was writing about how my day went as well. I am in my room as we speak, and hopefully, once this write up is uploaded, I pray I catch some sleep!! Should they be any further occurrence tonight, I promise to let y'all know on tomorrow's edition.
