Hello, great Steemians! Today I'm here to participate in this amazing contest organized by @ninapenda. Truly, time is very valuable in our lives, and without it, many of us would have been stagnated and misdirected in life or still waiting for the right time out of ignorance. Here is my entry.

Why I think that time is more valuable than money is because money can be lost and regained. You can hustle, work extra shifts, learn a new skill, and earn it back. But time, once it slips through your fingers, is gone for good. No savings account, no second chance, no borrowing from tomorrow. That is what makes time more precious and valuable than money.

I’ve had moments where I didn’t use my time wisely, and honestly, it still stings when I think about it. There was a period when I kept procrastinating on my studies. As a student midwife, I had important topics to cover, but I kept saying “I’ll do it later.” Later it turned into last-minute pressure, sleepless nights, and unnecessary anxiety before exams and presentations. I remember one particular day I had to present in class, and I was so nervous, not because I couldn’t do it, but because I didn’t prepare well enough on time. That experience taught me something real; it taught me that poor time management doesn’t just steal your hours, it steals your confidence too.

On the other hand, I’ve also had days where I used my time wisely, and the difference was clear. When I plan my day, study little by little, practice my speech on time, and avoid distractions, everything feels lighter. I walk into class more confident, I understand things better, and I don’t feel overwhelmed. It showed me that managing time isn’t about being perfect; it’s about being intentional.

Some of the ways people can manage their time better in life are by starting with these simple steps.

• Setting small goals instead of overwhelming myself with big ones

• Creating a daily plan/schedule, even if it’s not perfect

• Reducing distractions, especially phone scrolling, because this is the major thing that makes one waste time and even money.

• Starting early, even when you don’t feel like it.

• And most importantly, being disciplined, not just motivated because motivation comes and goes, because discipline is what keeps you going on the days you don’t feel like doing anything.

If I could go back in time to change one decision, I think I would choose to take my earlier academic days more seriously. Not because I failed, but because I know I could have done even better if I valued my time more back then. I would spend less time worrying about unnecessary things, like gossip and trying to fit in, and spend more time building myself mentally, academically, and even emotionally. But at the same time, I’ve come to accept that every wasted moment taught me a lesson. Every delay, every mistake that I made in the past all shaped who I am now because if I hadn't experienced them, I wouldn't have adjusted to change till now. So while I might wish to change a few things, I also appreciate the growth that came with them.
